WeldEye enhances welding quality and Industry 4.0 integration

K emppi launched a new mobile ap- plication for its universal welding management software, WeldEye, on 4 March 2019. The application acts as a mobile user interface for the cloud- based software and offers a new set of Industry 4.0 tools for welding profes- sionals to manage welding quality, production processes, and productivity in a more efficient way. Theconnectionbetween theWeldEye app and welding equipment – which is compatible with the Kemppi FastMig product family, or any other welding equipment model or brand with adapt- ers – is established using a digital con- nectivity module that collects welding data and enables wireless data transfer via Bluetooth. The app then uploads the data into the WeldEye cloud service via Wi-Fi or any mobile network, which is especially helpful whenwelding in areas where Wi-Fi is not available.

collected,” says Vesa Tiilikka, Kemppi’s product manager for software. “Paperless production becomes a reality with WeldEye. The new digital work order functionality; WPS acces- sibility on the go; andWeldEye’s real- time integration APIs to companies’ ERP/MES systems bring Industry 4.0 closer to our customers,” adds Juhana Enqvist, Kemppi’s chief development officer. The collection of digital welding data and verification against digitally stored WPSs has many benefits. Real- time quality control decreases costs and improves productivity, as any quality deviations can be identified and fixed without delay. Early intervention on any welding deviations can bring significant cost savings. In addition, companies with global manufacturing and supply chains can be sure that they meet the requirements of different welding stan- dards and global sales.

The app can also be used for brows- ing welding procedure specifications (WPSs). “Welders can easily access their company’sWPS librarywith theirmobile phones. They can also receive digital work orders, report work progress and get feedback on their welds, including heat input values when welding data is Yaskawa’s compact AR900 welding robot “Digital solutions are constantly gaining ground in the welding industry because of their huge potential. Nobody wants poor welding quality, and only by monitoring compliance with weld- ing standards can we be sure that the welds aroundus are risk-free andof high

Y askawa’s AR900 is a compact, six-axis arc welding robot that offers high- speed performance in a compact design. Powerful and precise, the AR900 is ideal for welding small parts with difficult angles. A contoured arm gives easy ac- cess to parts in confined spaces, avoiding potential fixture interference, while the slim profile allows for high-density robot placement. Key benefits include: • A streamlined arm design that is easy to maintain and program. • The contoured arm optimises robot range while maintaining a compact size. • It has the fastest axis speeds in its class. • A single robot-to-controller cable con- nection enables fast setup. • The system incorporates Yaskawa’s proven torch cable reliability, which is backed by industry’s first two-year torch cable warranty. The slim, fast, six-axis AR900 welding robot offers unrivalled welding perfor- mance and productivity with optimised

acceleration/deceleration control for all robot posi-

tions for faster cycle times. The 7.0 kg payload supports a wide variety of sen- sors and torches and the slim profile allows close prox- imity placement of multiple robots in high-density work cells. High allowable moment and inertia
