B Vi has a unique management structure for an engi- neering company. Based on a broad shareholding by the owner-managers of the company, it has been the key to the company’s success. The goal of this broad owner-managed structure is to ensure the full commitment of managers and senior personnel to the vision of BVi, more specifically to the company’s goals of personal attention on a project level, superior quality and service to clients. Its decision-making authority is strongly decentralised, enabling managers to make operational decisions and execute projects without red tape. This structure is the key to BVI’s suc- cess and differentiates it from other larger engineering firms. The Board of the Holding Company has full executive powers and acts as the owner of its subsidiaries. The Board appoints and delegates its executive function to a Management Committee

(MANCO) and an Operational Committee (OPCO). “I am confident that team BVi will continue to deliver on its vision of ‘Providing professional services in identifying and imple- menting engineering projects for medium to large corporations, in South Africa and internationally’,” says Managing Director, David Leukes. BVi is on a national drive to develop and expand its internal Building Information Modelling (BIM) skills. One of the main objectives identified during a cross regional meeting held in Cape Town, attended by Revit champions across all regions, was the need for templates/workflows to improve productivity. The BVi Revit template is currently being developed by utilising the existing templates available from each region with the goal of establishing a uniform set of standards for use across all BVi regions and offices. z
