YOUNG ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

MALOPE SABATA is a young professional who functions on the level of Project Leader. Not only is he technically way above his peers, he is constantly looking for new areas of business, and learning new skills in order for Nyeleti Consulting to create new markets. Malope graduated from Central University of Technology, Free State, South Africa with a National Diploma in Civil Engineering in 2010 and subsequently started his career in the civil industry, primarily in the field of construction and designing. He finished his Bachelor of Technology Degree Civil Engineering in July 2012. He has six years of experience in the field of civil engineering and focuses mainly on the geometric road design and road infrastructure of highways and urban roads. He has also designed and worked on various civil projects, including water supply and sanitation systems. He is currently on the process of registering for Pr Tech Eng with ECSA. He joined Nyeleti Consulting’s Transportation Department as Geometric Design Engineer in 2013. He immediately began working more independently with only minimal supervision from his technical directors. He took up the challenge to learn AutoCAD Civil 3D and train most of the design staff in the Tshwane Office. He is a pillar to the transport team in this office and a key asset as a whole. Malope joined SAICE as an associate member in May 2010. He serves in the SAICE Transportation Engineering Committee. He also serves as CESA Young Professionals Forum (YPF) South Gauteng commit- tee Vice-Chairperson. As member of the CESA YPF, Sabata is part of the young professional body that encourages and grows the society of engi- neering by offering career development and networking opportunities.

Nyeleti honoured Sabata with the Upcoming Young Professional of the year Award in 2016. He was a Top 5 finalist in the Construc- tion & Engineering Awards for the Standard Bank Rising Star Awards 2017. z

VALIZE SCHOLTZ is a Professionally Registered Engineer with an Honours Degree in Water Resource Management. She joined Nyeleti Consulting in January 2009, straight after completing her B.Eng Degree. Valize completed a B.Eng Degree (First Class) at the University of Pretoria in 2008 and a B. Eng Hons (Water Resource Management) in 2015, from the same university. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, distinguishing her as being within the Top 15% in her field of study. In 2013 she completed an NQF 7 qualification in Labour Intensive Construction. Since starting her career as a civil engineer she has chosen to become a specialist in the water provision field as she believes that water uplifts communities and has been a building block of progress in society since ancient times. In the past 10 years she has worked on a variety of water related projects, learning a multitude of skills and assuming various roles from Resident Engineer to Project Coordinator and Design Team Leader. Valize has acquired excellent technical and management skills over the past 10 years and shown resourcefulness, a sense of responsibility and exceptional people skills which earned her a promotion to Associate in 2018. Nyeleti Consulting recognised the significant role she played as a

young engineer to successfully complete the Gezina Bulk Water Pipeline project and she received the Upcoming Young Professional Award at the end of 2013. She was a finalist in the 2014 SAICE Technical Excellence Awards in the category Young Engineer of the Year. Owing to the significant role Valize played in leadership of the Water Division, company management, and handling complex international projects, such as the Pemba Transmission Main, as a young engineer, Nyeleti awarded her Upcoming Young Professional of the Year, for a second time, at the end of 2018. z
