division for Lincoln SA and is supported by Darren Bustin. Together they are involved with every fire system installation for the company. David Coates and William van Rooyen spoke of Lincoln SA, highlighting the wide coverage their service teams provide to an existing customer base and the range of high quality products they as- sociate with to provide a complete service solution. Steven Phillips, as the Muster manufactur- ing representative, discussed the technical features and benefits of the product having years of fire suppression experience, with many other products available for mobile equipment throughout the world. Many positive features are incorporated in the system to ensure functionality in the harshest of operating environments, pre- vent unnecessary machine downtime, save installation personnel time when assembling the system and take less time to maintain the working system once in operation, with highly informative tools all equating to con- siderable savings to any equipment owner. The capability of a single nozzle as part of a complete system was demonstrated. This lone nozzle extinguished an intense fuel tray fire, following a significant pre-burn period
to elevate heat and size of the fire, before knocking it out in a matter of seconds. Next was the rolling body demonstration. A series of fuel trays were positioned inside the body of a South African taxi with a complete sys- tem installed. Again, a significant pre-burn period was al- lowed to elevate the heat and size of the fire before manual activation of the system took place. Finally the same rolling body demonstration took place with the addition of MusterWire automatic fire detection. The purpose of this scenario was to show how quickly the Mus- terII System would detect a fire and activate to extinguish long before the fire became too intense. The fire was detected as it was just begin- ning to build in heat and the system knocked it straight out. The Lincoln SA team excelled in their efforts to promote the Muster II Fire Suppression System in South Africa and there is a wid- er network of Muster distribution partners around the world that can provide the same high level of assistance and quality product.
tailor made to suit every machine, in any op- eration, in any environment.
This is achieved through quantitative risk assessment to determine what fire risks are present, taking into consideration where, how and what environment the machine is working in. From here, the extinguishing application rates are determined from the surface calcu- lation of each fire risk area to determine the size of extinguishing agent cylinder/s needed for effective protection. Ultimately, the end user is presented with a system designed specifically to protect per- sonnel and valuable equipment. b
