Collecting an old front shovel excavator from the grounds of the Calenturitas de Prodeco Mine in northern Colombia could hardly have been more challenging: the engine of the O&K RH 120-E mining excavator had given up and could not be repaired on site, leaving the 250 t monster stranded on top of a pile of earth. The mining company therefore turned to the well-known heavy haulage specialist Boom Logistics to collect the excavator and transport it to the repair shop 22 km away – with the help of a 12-axle THP/ SL heavy-duty combination from the house of Goldhofer. With all the equipment in excellent condition, the prerequisites were therefore fulfilled for handling the complicated loading and unloading processes smoothly and safely.

The DEUTZ Corporation and Terex, the multinational manufacturer of powered access equipment, have concluded to expand their relationship to the field of reconditioning. Under this new arrangement, DEUTZ AG’s American subsidiary will supply Terex with exchange engines for reconditioning its Genie aerial working platforms (AWP). DEUTZ sells its exchange engines under the brand name DEUTZ Xchange. “Terex was impressed with the three-year transferrable warranty that we offer with our DEUTZ Xchange engines,” says Robert Mann, DEUTZ Corporation’s president and CEO. “Also our product quality and the fact that Xchange engines can be serviced by any DEUTZ distributor were critical factors in selecting DEUTZ for the business.” “Terex AWP reconditioning services provides cus- tomers with a cost-effective alternative to purchas- ing new machines,” adds Bob Bartley, Genie senior director of product support and reconditioning. “The increasing popularity of reconditioned Genie aerial equipment is supported by a same-as-new warranty, short lead time and strong service network. DEUTZ Xchange engines mirror the fundamental qualities in- tegral to these reconditioned units.” b
