ADVERTORIAL

RICH HISTORY, FUTURE FILLED WITH INNOVATION

C ounterbalance forklift trucks with capacities of two to three tonnes are the backbone of the local materials handling industry. With its evolving Hyster ® and UTILEV ® ranges, Barloworld Handling continues to broaden its offering in this segment, providing customers with ever greater choice to match their application. In partnership with Hyster, Barloworld Handling has a proud history of meeting customer needs in the counterbalance lift truck market. 2016 marks 35 years that Hyster has manufactured forklift trucks at its plant in Craigavon, Northern Ireland. Over the years the plant has delivered countless advances, allowing Barloworld Handling to meet the varying operational and cost-of-ownership requirements of customers in the logistics, distribution and manufacturing industries. The factory at Craigavon was built with one objective: to manufacture a range of quality trucks that could compete in world markets. The remit was to build reliable, tough, afford- able forklift trucks – design principles still built into all Hyster ® products today. Thousands of diesel, LPG and battery pow- ered forklifts are manufactured each year in Craigavon, with a large percentage of these being exported to customers across Europe, Russia, Africa and the Middle East. In the 1980s Barloworld Handling intro- duced the first product manufactured at

Craigavon, the famous Hyster ® H40-60 XL (2-3 tonnes capacity), into the local market. The early 90s saw the introduction of the XM series, which incorporated new technologies that were becoming available. The popular H2.00 – 3.20XM Series offered outstanding uptime, excellent driver comfort and high performance. At the time there were 14 models in the XM range and it was a clear step towards offering greater choice for customers to suit their specific applications. Wider customer choice The Hyster Fortens ® series was brought on to the production line in the early 2000s. This series has been the flagship of the brand for the last decade, offering a wide range of choices to customers. This range of internal combustion trucks provides a premium option to suit any ap- plication, with everything from the compact H1.6-2.0FTS to the H4.0-5.5FT. The Fortens ® range offers excellent cus- tomisation options with special configura- tions available to match specific application needs, including those with attachment us- age in the paper, manufacturing, recycling, beverage, metals or construction industries. In 2009, Craigavon became a mixed plant for manufacturing both IC and battery prod- ucts. Today, Hyster produces a varied range of electric trucks, with powerful, robust and high capacity trucks available alongside small, three-wheel electric forklifts which

are the most energy efficient in their class. No other manufacturer has such a wide choiceof trucks to suit budgets andapplications. In fact, there are over a dozen different types of 2.5 tonne Hyster ® counterbalance trucks rolling off the Craigavon production line. In addition to the premium Hyster Fortens ® range, Barloworld Handling also offers customers UTILEV ® counterbalance forklift trucks, as a reliable answer to simple, low- hour materials handling needs. Designed to meet uptime targets while keeping operating costs low, the range has found great favour in the local market. What’s next? In order to meet customers’ differing needs, Barloworld Handling and Hyster/UTILEV follow a tiered approach. The ability to match performance to specific operating requirements means customers will always have the right truck for their application, whether it’s a premium, standard or utility model, delivering low cost of ownership across the spectrum. In line with this approach, Barloworld Handling and Hyster will soon be launching a new Craigavon product the market has been asking for for some time. Watch this space!
