USHERING IN A NEW SCREENING ERA

The new Kleemann MOBISCREEN MS 953 EVO triple-deck mobile classifying screen – which recently made its southern African debut through Wirtgen South Africa – is a radical upgrade of its predecessor, with a special design focus on increased safety, efficiency and ease of use, writes Munesu Shoko .

W irtgen South Africa has intro- duced the new Kleemann MO- BI-SCREEN 953 EVO triple-deck mobile classifying screen in southern Africa. Having recently rolled off the Kl- eemann production line in Germany to make its official international debut at the recently ended SteinExpo trade fair in Homberg from August 30 to September 2, the new MS 953 EVO screen was officially launched in South Africa on September 15. Heinrich Schulenburg, MD of Wirtgen South Africa, says the Kleemann MS 953 EVO is an upgrade of the predecessor model, the MS 19 D, and has a range of new, advanced features that speak to increased safety, better production and fuel efficiency, as well as increased uptime though quick setup times and ease of transportation. Markus Krill, sales manager at Klee- mann, says the design of the new offering was influenced by Kleemann’s understand- ing that innovation is the key, the fuel and the springboard to success for both the OEM and its customers. “We have invest- ed a total of €50 million in the 2016-17 financial year in the upgrade of our pro- duction facilities in Germany. We have increased production capacity by 50%, and the new production facility allows us to handle bigger, mining-focused projects such as the new 500 t per hour MS 953 EVO,” says Krill. The launch of the larger 500 t per hour MS 953 EVO follows hard on the heels of the recent introduction of the smaller 350 t per hour MS 703 EVO triple-deck

screen in southern Africa. Mike Newby, sales engineer – Mineral Technologies at Wirtgen SA, tells Capital Equipment News that due to their innovative features, the new generation EVO line screens have generated a lot of interest in the local market. To give a context, Wirtgen SA sold the first two units of the EVO line of screens in South Africa in two consecutive weeks of their introduction. The first MS 703 EVO was recently sold to a crushing and screening contractor, while the MS 953 EVO was also purchased by another contractor on the eve of its launch. Wirtgen SA has since received several other enquiries and Newby is confident that these will translate into sales. He argues that repeat orders are a clear sign that the Kleemann brand is establishing itself in the local market. Safety first The machine’s key value proposition is the very big safety feature of being able to be moved, unfolded and operated via remote control. “While new features abound on the new MS 953 EVO mobile screen, the biggest improvement is the innovative, industry-first safety feature that allows the entire machine to be moved, unfolded and operated via a user-friendly, mobile control panel, which can be plugged in at three different points on the screening plant,” says Newby. “Operators no longer need to stand right next to the machine to pull levers to unfold the conveyors. All folding and lowering functions can be viewed and performed remotely, enhancing safety for the plant operator,” adds Newby.
