more than a skid-steer loader, but slightly less than its ‘big brother’ the TLB,” says Scott. “I should also commend Maximum Equipment for their unparalleled product support and aftersales service. They are always checking on us and are willing to go the extra mile to help us meet our operational targets.” Key features One of the key talking points on the HMK62SS is the front loader performance of the machine. Thanks to the high bucket and arm breakout force of 2 883 kg and 2 600 kg, respectively, the machine can drive the load without being stressed. The 4-in-1 bucket also maximises the machine’s versatility, allowing it to undertake several tasks such as digging, grading, loading and pushing. Meanwhile, a unique banana boom geometry makes it easy to work in places where space is often limited. Added to this is the small and compact nature of the machine, which allows it to ma- noeuvre through the tightest of working spaces. With high manoeuvrability and the four-wheel drive capability, the machine guarantees high performance in urban sites where space is normally a key consideration. “The compact nature of the machine allows it to work at sites where space is at a premium, such as in urban con- struction,” explains Ellis. “Because it’s so small, it can also be locked up in a container, making it easy to transport from one site to the other.” With an operating weight of 3 800 kg, the machine can be lift up inside build- ings, making it the ideal tool to demolish selected parts of walls inside buildings. “If you want to demolish inside buildings, it’s easy to lift it up to where you want it to work. Speaking of demolition, it is one of the key markets we are targeting with this machine,” says Ellis. Ultimate tool carrier With standard auxiliary hydraulic lines for front loader and the backhoe, the HMK62SS can be used with various attachments, which makes it a multipurpose machine. “The double-sided auxiliary hydraulic line for the breaker is standard on the HMK62SS, allowing for use of several attachments, ranging from brooms and dozer blades to concrete mixing buckets and grader blades. On the backhoe, one can work with attachments such as augurs and hydraulic hammers,” explains Ellis. The machine also comes with standard pallet forks that can be used for carrying

A machine that does more on its own is a boon on every site; with the HMK62SS mini-TLB, one can undertake all work that would usually call for two different ma- chines, a mini-excavator and a mini-load- er, using this single machine. Added to this is the compact size of the machine, ability to turn 360 degrees on its own axis, banana boom for backhoe and standard additional auxiliary lines that make it the ultimate tool carrier. This makes it ideal for a range of sectors, including plant hire, civil and building construction, agriculture and materials handling, among others. First recipients Scotty’s Plant Hire is one of the very first recipients of the new range in South Africa. The company purchased the two of the six units to be sold in South Africa, and MD and owner Brian Scott has been impressed by the performance to date. Based in KwaZulu-Natal, Scotty’s Plant Hire has been hiring earthmoving

equipment to the construction industry for more than 30 years. “To our fleet of excavators, TLB’s and skid-steer loaders, we have recently add- ed two Hidromek HMK62SS mini-TLBs. They were put to work in shopping malls in Pinetown and Edendale. Equipped with appropriate hydraulic hammers, they were deployed for the demolition of ramps and walkways in underground parking,” explains Scott. Scott says the machines’ robust design and size made them the perfect machine for the job, considering that a standard TLB had difficulties with height clear- ance as well as getting through some of the narrow ramps to access the work at hand. “The fully enclosed cab was also a great benefit to the operator in the dusty conditions created by the demolition and construction work,” adds Scott. “I am very impressed with the Hidromek HMK62SS. I am of the view that it’s only a matter of time before the machine es- tablishes itself in the market. For me, it is
