Participating in NAPO LAUNCH

HPE Africa – sole distributors locally for Hyundai Construction Equipment, McCloskey crushing and screening equipment and Soosan hydraulic hammers and quick couplers – participated at the launch of the National Alliance of Plant Owners (NAPO) in Doornkloof, Pretoria, at the end of May 2019.

HPE Africa exhibited two Hyundai R35Z-9 mini-excavators at the launch of National Alliance of Plant Owners (NAPO) in Doornkloof, Pretoria, on 30 May 2019.

“N APO has been established as an initiative of an existing group of construction plant owners, to formalise and promote development, relationships and trust between plant owners and contractors, within the plant hire industry,” explains Alex Ackron, managing director HPE Africa. “By joining a professional alliance, members will benefit from networking with other construction companies, realise financial advantages and have the assurance that machinery is in good operating condition, complying to standard requirements. NAPO also ensures that suppliers comply with regulations like the OHASA Act and Compensation Commissioner. “Benefits of being part of a formal organisation include opportunities for collective buying with favourable costs, expedient payment arrangements, assistance with administration structures and help sourcing the best parts suppliers and companies offering

dependable maintenance support.” The HPE Africa team works closely with companies in the plant hire sector through the supply of equipment and parts, as well as providing a repair and maintenance service. The company’s participation at the NAPO launch encompassed a presentation by the managing director, Alex Ackron, on some recent trends in the sales of earthmoving equipment. HPE Africa also displayed equipment, including two Hyundai R35Z-9 mini-excavators. Hyundai R35Z-9 mini-excavator have notable features, including a comfortable operating cabin for reduced operator fatigue, a robust upper-frame that can withstand continuous operation in demanding conditions and an efficient control system for precise handling. Other advantages are fuel efficiency and reduced noise levels. Hyundai machines are designed for easy maintenance and minimal downtime. 

NEWMILLING TOOLS FOR SOIL STABILISATION Soil stabilisation, a process widely used throughout the world, is the ideal solution for producing compactable soil with good paving properties from a sub-base with insufficient bearing capacity.

I n this context, companies need to be able to process a wide variety of soil types, from 'highly cohesive' to 'interspersed with coarse rock' to 'abrasive.' Wirtgen develops special milling tools specifically for these applications. In addition to the point attack cutting tools with conventional carbide tips that have been widely used to date, the company’s range of picks for soil stabilization now includes Wirtgen Compact Carbide (WCC) milling tools. Specifically for soil interspersed with stones Due to their shape and materials, Wirtgen’s newly developed WCC milling tools are perfect for mixing of cohesive soils interspersed with large pieces of rock. They have a highly wear-resistant carbide cutting edge that is nearly unbreakable and therefore impact-

resistant due to the enormous strength of the material. Depending on their application, WCC milling tools are a useful addition to the existing range of point-attack cutting tools. 
