PROVIDING WORLD-CLASS GEOTECHNICAL PRODUCTS
Job SA Engineering & Management is a South African company that commenced operations some 20 years ago in Mozambique under its Mozambican entity at the time. Focus was placed on general development projects in Mozambique, ranging from the construction of schools to five-star holiday resorts. Over the years, the company’s directorship expanded its footprint by opening a physical presence in Mozambique, Ghana and Rwanda – with South Africa being the home base. South African operations began in 2016 whereby certain Job_SA directors had an operational involvement in the rockfall mitigation and slope stabilisation systems of Chapman's Peak. This project won and award in the Construction World Best Projects awards.
What Job_SA does Job_SA has an active presence in Sub-Saharan Africa with both civil engineering project and mining operational works. Current and recent customers include the likes of SANRAL (South African National Roads Authority Limited), Eskom’s coal railway division, Skorpion Zink Mine (Namibia) as well as several major central and western African mines. Job_SA markets its business through strong interpersonal relationships between its clients, providing quality installation and construction services backed by quality product and technical support. Rockfall mitigation systems, slope stabilisation and general geotechnical contractor works (drilling) are the core service offerings. The company The company has a passion for Africa, and provides it with world-class geotechnical products. Focus placed on rock and slope (earth) stabilisation products servicing two prominent sectors, namely: Mining (Underground & Open Pit) and Civil Engineering/Earthworks markets. South Africa, its operational headquarter and its far-reaching logistical network provides hassle-free delivery to customers’ sites. Geo Equip Africa (GEA) is a made up of a core team of specialists at the ready to assist markets to procure goods seamlessly. Its technical product range is backed by an in-house technical team and affiliates with operational and installation guidance on the products/systems. Coupled with this, its commercial, financial and legal leadership teams are geared to handle cross border trade operations with ease. What it does GEA provides a selection of quality key geotechnical products to the general civil engineering and mining market. This includes, but is not limited to, High Tensile Steel (HTS) (tensile strength of at least 1,770 N/mm 2 ) Nets (mesh) for mining (underground roof support) and open-pit operations together with civil engineering ground support and slope stabilisation projects. It also provides rock anchors and soil nails such as the ‘Gewi’ thread bar. It is the sole distributor of Sireg® fiber anchors and rebar products for the Southern African region. The Sireg® bar is a fibre engineered bar with a tensile strength greater than steel, at the same time being four to five times lighter than the conventional steel type.
Project collaboration The Ermelo-Majuba railway line is of strategic importance to Eskom as it is the main coal line to the power station. Engagement talks between Job_SA, Eskom and the relevant technical support from Geo Equip Africa resulted in the implementation of a flexible, yet active system. The High Tensile Steel (HTS) mesh with its high tensile strength greater than 1,7 kN/mm 2 provides the perfect ground support to mitigate localised slip failures. It is an ‘Active system’ in the sense that the pull out (retarding) forces of the Sireg® fibre anchors exert a tensile force on the HTS mesh, resulting in a tight yet flexible fit to the undulating ground contours. The lightweight Sireg® anchors, offering superior strength parameters to conventional steel anchors, were the perfect choice. The lightweight anchor resulting in transport cost savings were carried over to the client. The ease of anchor handling made for fast and light work.
