What makes this backhoe loader ideal for the construction industry? The TLB844S backhoe loader is extremely versatile, making it ideal for the multiple functions required on a construction site. Various attachments are available which are easily changeable including rock breakers, a variety of trenching buckets, fork carriages and extending dippers – all with one machine. With its 4-wheel drive capability, the TLB844S is able to work on any terrain that the construction site throws at it while the universal controls inside the cab ensure that operation is simple. What are some of the standout features on this backhoe loader? The TLB844S has a fitted dual hydraulic pump which delivers a total of 145 litres/minute @ 2 200 rpm hydraulic flow, which is fitted as a standard on all units. The Carraro axle and transmission in the TLB844S are well known for its reliability. What is the unique selling point of this new back- hoe loader? As part of the Manitou family, the backhoe loader is backed up by the Manitou Group in terms of quality assurance and service. The fuel efficient Kirloskar 4R104OTA, BS-III, 90 hp Turbo charged engine is mainly mechanical, making it an ideal engine for Africa’s tough working sites. The advantages of this type of engine is the ease with which it can be maintained, thereby ensuring less down- time and lower maintenance costs. The TLB backhoe can dig up to depths of 4 741 mm which is beyond the capabilities of many competitive products. An operating height of up to 6 637 mm ensures that visibility of the working area is not obstructed thereby increasing the safety of the operator and others in the vicinity. In addition to this, the ergo- nomically designed cab is large and wide, offering ease of move- ment and comfort for the operator. The backhoe is fitted with boom and swing safety locks for ease of travel while smart UC Hydraulics ensure low fuel consumption. What is Manitou’s market share in this segment (construction)? Manitou officially lauched the TLB844S at Nampo in May 2018 and therefore market share is not yet established as it is still the new kid on the block’.
