magnificent land asset. After the plan- ning for the Precinct being 10 years in the making, the project is developing at pace and has met with interest from all over the country and beyond.” OceanDune is Sibaya Coastal Precinct’s first residential development and offers luxury apartments. With unobstructed sea, forest and inland views over indigenous forests with discreet security and sophisti- cated interiors, it’s a prime example of the unique and integrated lifestyle on offer in this first-of-a-kind mixed-use development. OceanDune is one of a number of develop- ments that will be offering residential oppor- tunities as part of the 1 042 hectare Sibaya Coastal Precinct. Seamlessly connected to its natural surroundings and the adjacent towns of uMhlanga and eMdloti, the Precinct in- cludes 300 hectares of indigenous forest and a seven kilometre stretch of pristine coastline between the two lagoons, with only 40% of the total area allocated to a built environment that will eventually lay claim to the hilltops. The remaining land will be rehabilitated and preserved through the Sibaya Coastal Forest Reserve. On completion, the Development is anticipated to offer an integrated, connected community featuring residential, schools, tertiary education, retirement and corporate, retail, leisure and hospitality offerings. Pamela Naidu from Id Realty, the estate agents for Ocean Dune, said the hando- vers which took place from the middle of April were met with great excitement as owners were given the keys to their new apartments. Phase two of the residential handover commenced from the end of July, with the third handover phase for the retail section and the final residential component scheduled for the third quarter of this year. Steve and Rene Evans are amongst the first residents to move in, “We chose OceanDune because of its location close to major hubs, easy access to the airport, modern and high-end appeal and excellent road network,” says Rene. Both Rene and

Steve are enjoying the lifestyle that goes with living within Sibaya Coastal Precinct. Tongaat Hulett Developments Managing Director, Michael Deighton said, “As a prime element of Durban’s vision for liveable urban development on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast, Sibaya Coastal Precinct will have long lasting social, economic and environmental benefits for the province as the new precinct takes shape. The successful uMhlanga Precinct which began some 20 years ago is an excellent example of the significant positive effects carefully considered urban planning and development can have for the province, and Sibaya Coastal Precinct will continue to build on this platform.” 
