Reliable object detection with sensors from Countapulse Controls

These Leuze sensors can 'see through' certain materials, which provides optimum accuracy in difficult sensing applications such as those found in food and beverage and printing and packaging operations. The devices can detect products in outer packaging and behind container walls as well as check fill levels and monitor these for completeness. Leuze electronic is expanding its portfolio of optoelectronic and in- ductive switches with capacitive proximity switches. This move will make it possible for users to procure obtain com- plete solutions for detection requirements from a single source. The company has been the official distributor for Leuze elec- tronic for more than 45 years and offers a full technical advisory service. This, Gerry Bryant, managing director of Countapulse Con- trols, says enables the company to provide fit-for-purpose sensing solutions to industries across southern Africa. The introduction of contactless, wear-free switches which are resistant to electromagnetic influences, interference and contam- inants in the air such as dust by Leuze will have major advantages for end users. The capacitive switches are available in a cylindrical or cubic design, as well as embedded or non-embedded versions for a wide range of mounting options. Due to their semiconductor technology, the Leuze sensors have a long life expectancy, regardless of the detection and switching frequency. The new variants facilitate contactless detection of numerous different objects and media, regardless of the shape. These sen- sors are particularly suitable for detecting objects in harsh and dirty environments due to the IP67 rated housing.

Inductive flow meter with IO-link The new SM4 type flow meter operates according to Faraday’s law of induction. The conductive medium flowing through a pipe in a magnetic field generates a voltage which is proportional to the flow velocity or volumetric flow quantity. This voltage is tapped via electrodes and converted in the evaluation electron- ics. Its resistant materials mean the sensor is suitable for a multitude of media. A high protecting rating and a robust, compact housing distinguish the sensor in the field. Do not miss the opportunity to visit ifm at Electra Mining Africa Expo 10 – 14 September. Hall 7, stand C01 for a live product demonstration on this brand new product as well as new and innovative technology we have to offer. Endress+Hauser development team earns the AMA Innovation Award During June 2018 the development team from Endress+Hauser Wetzer, the centre of compe- tence for temperature measurement technol- ogy, prevailed against 35 German and interna- tional competitors to win the prestigious AMA Innovation Award for its iTHERM TrustSens thermometer, designed especially for hygienic and aseptic applications in the food and bever- age and life sciences industries. The instrument features automated and ful- ly traceable inline self-calibration, eliminating the risk of non-conformities and leading to su- perior product safety and process efficiency. In addition, the integrated Heartbeat Technology enables continuous self-diagnosis and verifica- tion without interruption of the process. The AMA Innovation Award, which is given to innovative research and development teams by the AMA Association for Sensors and Meas- urement, is considered one of the industry’s most coveted awards. The awards ceremony was held during the Sensor+Test trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany. Enquiries: Benjamin Mlangeni. Tel. +27 (0) 11 262 8012 or email Benjamin.mlangeni@za.endress.com
