round up PRESSURE + LEVEL MEASUREMENT + INSTRUMENTATION

New manifold valve design for pressure transmitters Emerson has introduced a new manifold product family for its Rosemount™ pres- sure transmitters. Manifolds shut off or equalise pressure at the transmitter and provide the critical mounting mecha- nisms required in many installations. The Rosemount R305 Integral Manifolds and Rosemount R306 In-line Manifolds are designed to offer significant user improve- ments on these basic functions. lated from the process fluid to mini- mise potential corrosion - Modular packing ensures only the stem and body are exposed to the process fluid - Larger internal passages to enhance reliability.

Scott Nelson, Vice President and GM for Emerson’s Rosemount pressure products, says, “Pressure transmitter manifolds often don’t get much attention, but users understand how vital they are for effective operation. Emerson takes all these elements seriously and introduced the improved manifolds to make this critical operation easier and safer for technicians who work with these products every day.” Enquiries: Devesh Roopnarain, Area Director – Southern Africa, Emerson Automation Solutions. Devesh.Roopnarain@Emerson.com The new Rosemount R305 and R306 manifold product family features the Pressure-Lock™ Valve providing easier operation, enhanced reliability and safety.

The Rosemount R305 is designed for dif- ferential or gauge pressure applications and mounts directly to any Rosemount Coplanar™ Transmitter for a complete solution. This reduces the number of po- tential leak points by 50% compared to traditional bi-planar transmitter setups. Two-, three- and five-valve configurations are available. The Rosemount R306 is designed for in-line pressure transmitters for gauge or absolute pressure applications. When a Rosemount R305 or R306 is selected with a transmitter, the components are fully as- sembled and high-pressure leak tested at the factory. This allows the transmitter to be installed straight out of the box, saving time and money.

The most important improvement for both manifolds is the new Pressure- Lock™ Valve design which simplifies high-pressure operation, increases safe- ty and enhances reliability. New features include: - The two-piece stem does not rotate in the seat, providing solid closure with minimal wear - Easy to turn while delivering positive shut-off - Adjustable packing nut simplifies valve maintenance - Back seating prevents blowouts for increased user safety - Stem and bonnet threads are fully iso-

Liquid level controller The V4LM4S30 24-240 ac/dc liquid level controller is available from Vepac Electronics. In the controller, two wires from the relay are con- nected to a resistance-sensing probe in the pump seal cavity and the grounded motor housing to monitor for seal leakage, applying an ultra-low voltage signal. If the seal starts to leak, contaminating fluid enters the seal cavity. This lowers the resistance between the internal probe and the common ground. When the resistance drops below the user-adjusted sensitivity set-point of the relay, the output relay energises, visualising the current condition of the seal with an indication LED on the front of the device. The relay output can be used to give an alarm indication of a leaking seal. The universal 10-in-1 level controller V4LM4S30 is equipped with three relay outputs and allows for connecting up to four probes at a time. Level monitoring in small tanks WIKA offers original equipment manufacturers a min- iature float switch. The model RLS-7000/8000 has one switch point and is particularly suitable for level monitor- ing in small tanks. The performance and design of the float switch meet the requirements of original equipment manufacturers for reliable and economical components. In addition to the standard version, design-in solutions are also possible. The model RLS-7000/8000 can be adapted to the respective application by customisation of designs, tank connections and electrical connections. The switch can be installed vertically (RSL-7000) or horizontally (RSL-8000). Its switch- ing function, normally open or normally closed, can be re- versed by rotating the float body (RLS-7000) or the com- plete instrument (RLS-8000) through 180°. The new float switch has been designed for a long ser- vice life. The instrument is available in a variety of robust and chemically resistant plastics with very low water ab- sorption. Its reed contacts provide up to a billion switching cycles, depending on the application. Enquiries: WIKA Instruments.

The V4LM4S30 liquid level controller is used to monitor liquid seals and signal any leaks.
