Compact devices with useful functions The new UPS devices from the Trio series really demonstrate their advantages in confined spaces. The combined power supply unit and UPS not only saves space, but also simplifies planning. This is particularly the case in applications that only require loads to be buffered. Despite their compact design, the devices deliver high performance and are tailored to suit application requirements across numerous fields. Trio Power dc UPS: key features Second generationTrio Power uninterruptible power supplies are a space-saving combination of a power supply unit with wide-range input and a UPS in a single device. Three new models are available. The main features and functions, at a glance, include: - Single-phase (5 A and 10 A) or three-phase (20 A) ac wide-range input - Comprehensive signalling - USB communication interface for configuration, monitoring, and controlled shutdown of the PC - Dynamic boost for up to 150% of the nominal output power for 5 s - Push-in connection technology for fast wiring - Battery start function for startup from the energy storage device without mains input.

Lead battery energy storage: the ‘UPS-BAT’ module with 1.3 Ah features VRLA (valve regulated lead acid) technology. The two 12 V battery modules are housed in DIN-rail-mountable metal housing (right), and the blocks can be easily replaced. Active battery monitoring can also be implemented easily using UPS devices from the Trio Power series. They feature an alarm signal contact and an LED indicator, which are activated if the maximum permissible recharging time has been exceeded or the battery is potentially faulty. In addition to error evaluation via signal contacts, a PC can be connected via USB. The UPS system can then be monitored conveniently via the UPS-CONF software.

Modular ready-to-go power plants

The newly launched Wärtsilä Modular Block power plant solution is a prefabricated, modularly configured and expandable enclosure for Wärtsilä medium-speed 34SG gas engine generators. As well as the gas engine generator, theWärtsilä Modular Block enclosure incorporates engine-specific auxiliary units. The solution enables reduced on-site installation time – from the typical several months to a few weeks, depending on the full scope of supply. The concept thus makes Wärtsilä’s advanced medium-speed engine technology available for applications where it would not otherwise be viable with a conventional custom- designed permanent structure. Medium-speed engine technology also offers the advantages of inherently higher efficiency and lower lifecycle costs than containerised high-speed engines or gas turbine solutions. Wärtsilä can offer the Modular Block as a full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project. The solution is easily
