TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT + INSTRUMENTATION

IR camera and thermometer

up to 390:1. Xi devices are calibrated for temperature measurements within the range -20 to 900 °C. Customers receive a ready-to-use package including a mounting nut, a mounting bracket, software and a connection cable. Microscope optics The new microscope optics of the Xi 400 infrared camera provide for reliable temperature measurement on tiny objects from 240 µm. In combination with a suitable stand, this enables professional measurement of printed circuit boards and components in the electronics industry. The measuring distance between camera and object is variable between 90 and 110 mm. The built-in motor focus allows for an easy focusing of the camera with the included PIX Connect software. Circuit boards are a core part of electronic devices. They keep getting smaller even as they become more powerful. Temperatures of assembled circuit boards can be measured easily with the microscope optics of the Xi 400 thermal imager, so overheated areas can be identified quickly and possible defects prevented. The causes for excessive temperatures can be manifold: defective components, incorrectly dimensioned circuit paths or poorly soldered joints. The Optris Xi 400 helps to identify problem areas so they can be resolved. Enquiries: INSTROTECH. Tel +27 (0)10 595 1831, or email sales@instrotech.co.za

INSTROTECH has introduced two newly developed temperature measurement devices, the Xi 80 and Xi 400 from Optris, which combine the benefits of infrared cameras and infrared thermometers. Torsten Czech, Head of Product Management at Optris, elaborates. “With the Xi series, we are launching a semi- autonomous sensor which, in addition to traditional PC and software-based operation, works as a smart pyrometer, with analogue or digital outputs, that seeks the target on its own. This opens up new fields in mechanical engineering or multi- sensor applications, for example.” The Xi series is a fusion between a robust, compact pyrometer and an advanced IR camera. The integrated spot finder function enables accurate temperature measurements in moving objects without having to readjust the sensor. Sensor adjustment takes place autonomously, without having to establish a connection with a PC. In addition to direct 0/4-20 mA analogue output, the devices offer users digital interfaces such as Ethernet or RS485. An external processing interface enables the further processing of up to nine freely definable analogue outputs, making the devices ideal for OEM applications. Both Xi models are equipped with a motorised focus, enabling remote focusing via the PIX Connect software. The sensors have a resolution of up to 382 x 288 pixels, a frame rate of up to 80 Hz and a measuring spot to distance ratio of

Portable process calibrator for hazardous areas

WIKA's CPH7000 portable process calibrator has received ATEX approval. It is therefore also suitable for use in hazardous areas. The CPH7000 provides a highly flexible on-site calibration instrument for process transmitters and pressure gauges. A high- pressure version tests measuring ranges up to 10 000 bar. The portable, multi-function instrument integrates an electronics module, a hand pump for generating test pressures of up to 25 bar and a high-performance data logger. Due to its equipment, the CPH7000 can also be used for test tasks for the measurement parameters of temperature, voltage and current. Enquiries:WIKA Instruments.
