have lots of parts to deal with – it's just a probe and the radar, and the only thing you have to clean is the antenna," he says. "The VEGAPULS 64 is easier to install and is reliable, so it ticks the boxes for me. I'd say our clients are also much happier with the new ones because we're not getting false readings”. Part of Fleming Electrical’s affinity for VEGA sensor technology stems from the manufacturer's prominence in the wider market. "The majority of asphalt plants we see are European-built plants and they come to Australia pre-installed with many parts, including the probes, which are typically VEGA products. Because the technology is already on the plant and it does the job, it's easier for us to fit those requirements by using VEGA products," concludes FlynnO'Brien.

One of the key features of the VEGAPULS 64 is the ability to adjust the transmitter wirelessly, using Bluetooth technology. This optional feature enables a smartphone or tablet to access the setup and adjustment functions of the sensor, which are in- tegrated in the VEGA Tools app. The sensor can be adjusted from a distance of 25 m and the app gives the user access to all the operation data, includ- ing measured value, event memory, sensor status displays, echo curve and Bluetooth range informa- tion. If VEGA has been granted access to a particu- lar sensor, it can also access the tool remotely to assist with any technical issues or questions. For Flynn-O'Brien, the simplicity of the VEGAPULS 64's design contributes to its ease of use from an in- stallation and maintenance perspective. "You don't
