Improve quality control processes using a digital microscope In the electronics quality control (QC) process visual product inspections are often performed, where every product is ex- amined visually, often using a microscope, before the product is sold into the external market. Inspectors are provided with lists and descriptions of unacceptable product defects such as cracks or surface blemishes. Using a digital microscope, inspectors can detect product defects much more quickly by checking the magnified boards in full HD image quality. A digi- tal microscope can also be used to save and share image doc- uments for discussion with colleagues and to show custom- ers. This provides product safety for customers and clarifies any quality discussions between inspectors. Benefits for quality control There are multiple stages in PCB assembly where a digital microscope could be valuable in the detection of quality is- sues, these include: inspecting wires on a bare board, solder paste inspection, checking the placement of components on the board, or a post reflow check. Using digital microscopes to control process output also paves the way for using dedicated measurement software, enabling inspectors to perform easy and accurate measure- ments with simple point and click software. It can measure basic geometric figures and perform measurements on cap- tured images with no computer required. An agile generation of digital microscopes fromTAGARNO. The latest generation of digital microscopes from Danish company TAGARNO allows users to constantly update the mi- croscope with new options and apps. This helps to improve work quality by adding features such as measurements possibil- ities, golden sample comparisons and verification lines. TAGARNO offers specialised digital microscopes for use in a range of processes within the electronics industry, quality control and documentation being of the most rewarding ap- plications.
