round up TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT + INSTRUMENTATION

High-resolution IR cameras for additional fields of application The Optris PI 450 and PI 640 infrared cameras from Instrotech can be calibrated for a temperature meas- urement range of up to 1500°C. This allows the two high-resolution cameras to be integrated into applica- tions that far exceed the previous threshold of 900°C. The camera models feature an impressive dynamic range from 200°C to 1500°C, thus extending their pos- sible applications. In heat treatment processes and high temperature processes, in particular, continual measure- ment without switching range is now possible. Optris offers five cameras in the LWIR range (7.5 – 13 µm) with resolutions from 160 x 120 pixels. The two high-resolution models with 382 x 288 and 640 x 480 pixels can be calibrated to the temperature range of 200°C to 1500°C. In this temperature range, system accuracy is ±2 %. Uncooled, the cameras can be em- ployed in environments from 0°C to 50°C (PI 640) or 70°C (PI 450) and, with a cooling housing, up to 315°C. The cameras are employed in high temperature process- es.These include the steel industry where the inner walls of combustion chambers are tested. In innovative indus- trial processes, too, such as selective laser melting, tem- peratures of over 900°C need to be detected. Another application is in processes that have to be controlled or regulated across a wide temperature range. The glass in- dustry is an example of this. Molten glass has a tempera- ture of around 1000°C, whereas the material cools down to less than 500°C by the end of the process. The entire process can now be controlled with an infrared camera without changing systems or switching ranges. New process transmitter fromWIKA With its 4 ... 20 mA, 4 ... 20 mA HART®, PROFIBUS® PA or FOUN- DATION Fieldbus™ output signals, combined with either intrinsic safety or flameproof enclosure ignition protection type (in accord- ance with ATEX and IECEx), the Model CPT-2x is ideally suited to applications with the highest demands on measurement technology. Robust and highly accurate The capacitive ceramic measuring cell delivers especially accurate measured values, particularly with small measuring ranges. As a re- sult of the special sealing concept, operation in almost all industries and applications is possible without difficulties. Easy configuration and operation Service and configuration at the instrument is carried out us-

ing the optional display and operating module, which can be fitted in four positions. The op- erating menu has a simple and self-explan- atory structure and has thirteen selectable languages as standard. Alternatively, the operating pa- rameters can be set using the PACTware™ free and non-proprie- tary configuration software. An instru- ment-specific DTM enables easy integration into corresponding process control systems. Enquiries:WIKA Instruments. Tel. +27 (0) 11 621 0000 or email sales.za@wika.com www.wika.co.za

Precise temperature sensors with internal drift monitoring Increased process reliability via permanent drift monitoring The sensors of the TAD series have two resistance elements with different characteristics (PT and NTC) that monitor each other per- manently in the process. Drift is immediately detected and signaled. This increases the process reliability. All three process values (mean value, PT element, NTC element) can be documented via IO-Link. This ensures permanent transparency for quality management. Cali- bration intervals can be adapted or be dispensed with. Precise 5-point calibration from the factory Due to a 5-point temperature adjustment during the production pro- cess, the TAD temperature sensor features an accuracy of ± 0.2 K in the range of -10...130 °C.
