CONTROL SYSTEMS + AUTOMATION

Teams can make quicker, better decisions

Africa. “We’ve worked closely with our customers on these solutions, proving that an instantly available app and a scalable an- alytical appliance that work out-of-the-box can deliver immediate value.” These offerings are some of the first subscription offerings from Rockwell Auto- mation. To further streamline the adoption process, a new e-commerce portal is used to manage the new offerings. All subscrip- tions and management can take place within a single, self-service portal. FactoryTalk TeamONE App: Focused

on reducing mean time to repair (MTTR), Rockwell Automation is releasing a new edition, dubbed the Standard Edition, of the FactoryTalk TeamONE app. The new edition adds an alarm module, enabling teams to collaborate with live alarm details. This gives users the ability to easily view all active alarms. They can also view, share and post new details, delivering better team collaboration by adding context with alarm information. FactoryTalk Analytics for Devices Appli- ance: FactoryTalk Analytics for Devices is a hardened appliance that helps avoid costly downtime and improve productivity by pro- actively identifying device health. With just a connection to power and a local control system network, the appliance begins pro- viding analytics within minutes. After the connections are made, the application detects automation devices on the network without disrupting perfor- mance.

Rockwell Automation is enabling teams on the plant floor to make better, quicker decisions with the FactoryTalk Analytics for Devices appliance and a FactoryTalk TeamONE Standard Edition app. These off-the-shelf offerings require minimal configuration and can help solve common maintenance problems faster, which keeps unplanned downtime at a minimum. “These offerings were built with ease- of-use as a primary goal,” said Christo Buys, Business Manager for Control Sys- tems, Rockwell Automation sub-Saharan

designed to replace a PLC outright, it can be used to change the way we think about control, allowing FLC devices to: • Be used without a PLC in standalone applications • Perform arithmetic functions, use tim- ers, counters, and even toggle bits • Share data with a PLC via assigned I/O variables Technology Using a simple ‘Condition’ and ‘Action’ principle that is integrated into a flow chart user interface, ARGEE allows users with little or no programming experience to eas- ily configure and program their Turck FLC devices. Turck , Supplied locally by RET Automation , has developed the next big thing for control: the field logic controller (FLC). Turck’s FLC solutions are made possible by ARGEE (A Really Great Engineering Environment), a revolutionary web-based programming envi- ronment that allows users to set conditions and actions directly at the field level. By utilizing HTML5, Turck provides a complete engineering environment for users to write, run, simulate, debug, and monitor code, all without requiring the use of a PLC. Using FLCs, Turck’s multiproto- col block I/O products can act as simple I/O devices or as standalone logic con- trollers. While ARGEE programming is not

total storage capacity (in its first phase) of 5 500 metric tonnes (MT) of LPG, allowing an annual throughput of almost 200 000 MT. The first shipments of LPG were discharged in May 2017. Yokogawa was selected to design, supply and commission the Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) based on Yokogawa ’s Centum DCS and ProSafe SIS platforms, and the overallTerminal Management System. Sunrise Energy was established in 2007 to develop and construct an LPGTerminal. Sunrise Energy owns and operates the world class fa- cility which can be used by any legitimate gas importer, distributor or downstream user for the import of LPG, commercial propane or Bu- tane, subject to maximum throughput and storage tariffs which are set and regulated by the National Energy Regulator of SA. Designed in a modular way to respond to growth in demand, the terminal has a
