Pre-fitted junction boxes to Go As the saying goes: “Why do it yourself, if you can get someone else to do it for you?” If you’re an electrical contractor and you need to fit junction boxes then that ‘someone else’ should defi- nitely be Pratley. That’s because they offer a service whereby their products can be factory fitted to your specifications saving plenty time and labour costs. Many installations done by electrical contractors include lighting distribution systems. A good example is where you need to supply power to a row of lights situated in an industrial building. This configuration normally includes three-way junction boxes where two of the entries are used to run the main armoured cable and the third entry is used to terminate a flexible cable which supplies power to the light fitting. Terminating these configurations on site is both time consuming and labour intensive, even more so if the installation is high up. “To make life easier for the installer we supply junction boxes factory fitted with Kwikblok rail mounted terminals. The most common configuration for single phase lighting distribution is two live, two neutral and two earth terminals which are bridged in pairs of two,” says Eldon Kruger, Marketing Director at Pratley. “We can also supply boxes fitted with any terminal configuration

to suite any reticulation requirement. The terminal rails are raised so the electrician can visually verify the correct connection of the wires into the terminals. This will minimise loose con- nections which can generate heat and cause connection failures later on.”

Pratley ’s Ezee-Fit and Aluminium Alloy Junction Boxes are supplied complete with built-in cable glands for steel wired armoured cable but these can also be adapted for unarmoured cable. “Very often we supply our junction boxes for large pro- jects pre-fitted with specific lengths of armoured cable. We can even supply the flexible cable and Pratley Compression Glands to supply power to the light fitting,” adds Eldon. Enquiries:Tel. +27 (0) 11 955 2190 or email sales@pratley.co.za
