round up PLANT MAINTENANCE, TEST + MEASUREMENT

Enhanced safety through easy identification Magnet continually enhances its extensive range of electrical equipment, industrial instrumentation and automation systems, to meet exact market require- ments. In harsh, potentially hazardous environments it is critical that all products, components and materials are clearly labelled for easy identification. For this rea- son, Magnet has introduced a new high performance, portable Brady label printer that produces identification labels which stick on clean, rough, oily and powdered surfaces and remain legible when exposed to extreme temperatures, chemicals, abrasion and pressure. Features include an ergonomic cutter and label grab- ber for holding the label after cutting, preventing it from falling, as well as a protective rubber casing. For added convenience, a heavy-duty magnet accessory and lan- yard enable hands-free printing. This device is available with seven durable continuous materials. The instru- ment is fitted with a drop-lock-and-go cartridge and a re- chargeable Lithium-ion battery. This easy-to-use system has a three-line LCD display that provides clear visibility, an ABC keypad, graphics library and menu functions for fast label creation. There are special symbols for elec- tric, smart home, safety and datacom applications. PermaSleeve™ heat-shrink wire and cable mark- ers have fade-resistant and flame-retardant features. Self-laminating wire and cable wraps are suitable for data cables and wires that are handled or moved fre- quently. These clear, wrap-around tail overlaminates have a white print-on area to protect the text. Nylon cloth wire and cable wraps are highly pliable and conform to tightly curved surfaces. Polyester strips, best suit- ed for flat, smooth surfaces, are ideal for component marking. These high-performance strips withstand numerous solvents and variable temperatures and are available in a white and transparent finish, in 6.40 m lengths. The breaker box labelling feature provides clear identification of a distribution box, even when there are multiple modules of various widths. A special range of indoor/outdoor vinyl is suitable

Lifetime warranty Q&A with HellermannTyton

Warranties can be tricky to get one’s head around given the terms and conditions under which each warranty can fall under. Lifetime warran- ties become near impossible to carry given the daily toll engineering workmanship has on tools and instruments. HellermannTyton carries a Lifetime Warranty on most tools and selected instruments. Heller- mannTyton’s Tools & Instruments Manager, Ryan Burger discusses the conditions of the warranty. Which tools are covered under this warranty and why? All tools carry a lifetime warranty, excluding hydraulic and battery oper- ated tools as well as gas operated tools. We are confident in the quality and workmanship of these tools. Why would HellermannTyton offer a warranty of this magni- tude? HellermannTyton has many years of experience with long-standing trusted products and their manufacturers. We want to share that rela- tionship with our customers for the life of their product. Why would certain tools and instruments not be covered by this warranty? These tools require regular maintenance that falls outside Hellermann- Tyton’s control. The instruments that only carry a limited warranty can- not be controlled in the way they are operated or used i.e. operator error or misuse may result in damage to the instrument. Under what conditions will the lifetime warranty not cover? This warranty does not cover batteries, fuses, or the neglect or misuse of products within abnormal conditions of operation, improper storage, damaged or altered as well as the wear of consumable products. What constitutes misuse of the product? When a product has been accidentally damaged, disassembled or stored, operated, altered, or not maintained outside of its intended use and operating instructions it is considered misuse. Will the warranty cover software? No. Due to the nature of Software, it cannot be returned or warranted. If the product has been replaced before, can it be replaced again? Yes, at HellermannTyton’s discretion and after investigation, the war- ranty of any replaced or repaired product will be reinstated and as new again. If I, the end-user, sell the product to another end-user is the lifetime warranty still valid? The lifetime Warranty is honoured to the invoice and sale from Heller- mannTyton. If proof of purchase from HellermannTyton can be shown the warranty may be granted. Is there a difference between a warranty and a guarantee? Yes, there is a subtle difference between a warranty and a guarantee. A warranty defined simply holds the manufacturer responsible to re- pair, replace a defective product or its parts under certain conditions for a period of time. A guarantee defined simply confirms that the product will perform in a specific matter regarding content, durability and quality of a prod- uct. It can be viewed as an after-sales performance promise, valid for a fixed time period. If the obligation is not fulfilled, the manufacturer will then either replace, repair or refund.
