Electromagnetic flowmeter for utilities and industry

Compact, robust, reliable and cost-effective – these are important characteristics of instrumentation in industrial automation. The new AF-E 400 flowmeter has been developed based on KROHNE’s 70 years of expertise in electromagnetic flow measurement. It is specifically designed for industrial automation and is claimed as best in its class in terms of temperature range, accuracy, pressure drop and flow range. Its uniquecompact sensor designmakes the flowmeter ideal for use in tight spaces and for parallel installations in a variety of conductive liquid applications, for example in cooling lines of welding equipment, bending machines and robots, or on chemical dosing skids. The AF-E 400 features premium accuracy in every flow range, allowing optimal processing in automation. The round bore reduction of the sensor makes the flowmeter more resilient in terms of increased pressure, ensuring high accuracy over a wide pressure and temperature range. With integrated temperature measurement it eliminates the need for an additional sensor. An electromagnetic flowmeter typically carries the risk of crosstalk. It can influence the measurement of another device installed close to it because of magnetic field overlap. The AF-E 400 was developed with tight spaces in mind and guarantees maximum flexibility in installation. Due to the special design of the magnetic circuit, field strength and electronics, these mag meters can be positioned in proximity to one another (as close as 2 mm). The units can thus be mounted in parallel without interference. High temperature capability and accuracy KROHNE examined some of the common issues with products in this sector and translated them into improvements across the board. AF-E 400 features, for example, the highest temperature capability. Providing for continuous use at +90°C liquid temperature allows for its operation in demanding cooling and hot water applications. N&Z Instrumentation & Control supplies the PicoLite USB data logger which is a compact, easy-to-use and disposable temperature logger that provides a simple and reliable solution for temperature monitoring throughout cold chain transportation processes. Direct USB-to-PC connectivity, a built-in temperature sensor, activation button and bi-colour alarm LED make the PicoLite user friendly. Combined with the weboomerang™ application, an innovative solution to email trip reports back to the shipper automatically, the PicoLite delivers low cost, high functionality, reliable data logging. It is designed for use in cold chain transport of food and medical products – including pharmaceuticals

KROHNE’s latest insights in magnetic field design and signal conversion enable the highest accuracy without adding costs. In addition, the combination of tight seals and laser welding guarantees high IP65 and IP67 ingress protection. The integrated temperature measurement minimises intrusion points in the pipe and provides more data from the process.

The AF-E 400 allows for installation in tight spaces without crosstalk.

Extensive self-diagnostics Extensive self-diagnostics provide for reliable operation. The flowmeter continuously monitors critical aspects such as: - Low supply voltage - Incorrect parameterisation - Flow range exceeded or short circuit on any outputs. Warning messages categorised according to NAMUR NE107 alert the user via the display and the IO-Link output. The AF-E 400 is designed for quick commissioning and offers various output and communications options including IO-Link. Typical applications of the AF-E 400 in factory automation / machinery include: - Flow measurement of conductive liquids in utility applications and industrial automation - Cooling water monitoring in bending, welding robots, injection moulding and web handling applications - Water consumption monitoring in washing installations (grit wash, car wash, industrial wash) - Flow monitoring in recirculation of hot and cold water - Dosing skids for reagents and catalysts or chemicals. and vaccines, for example. The SingleRide single trip pdf Temperature Logger, supplied with an IP67 protective encasing, offers an even more economical option. Temperature logging starts and stops at the press of a button. Users then plug the SingleRide logger into a computer to obtain a pdf report directly, without any specialised software or drivers required.
