MIKATEKO MABUNDA – MIKATEKO TRADING ENTERPRISE

M ikateko Trading Enterprise is a black woman owned company that was started in 2005. The company is now 15 years old and is still growing. In the past 15 years it has already made a big impression and has left an indelible footprint in the construction and built industry. The company is well renowned for the outstanding quality of its houses and the professional management of its affairs. The company is 100% black owned, 100% women owned and 100% woman managed and controlled. The managing member, Mikateko Mabunda comes from Ngove village about 200 kilometres northeast of the capital of Limpopo, Polokwane.

The three women that manage the company bring a diverse mix of management and technical skills to experience manage the company. “We employed more rural women than men and created business opportunities for women owned companies. Our average health and safety audit score was more than 90%. We successfully overcame project challenges using innovative strategies to deal with the shortage of water. We had good relationships with community stakeholders,” says Mabundla. The project entered is for the Development of 86 rural housing units at Molemole within the Capricorn district. In addition to completing the 86 housing units the project won three awards for the contractors. 

MIKATEKO TRADING is a construction company specializing in building houses and civil works. The owner and key personnel are all woman.
