RURAL PROJECT OF THE YEAR

NOZIPHO MGOBHOZI – LOT CIVIL AND CONSTRUCTION

L ot Civil and Construction is a registered company which is owned by a young black woman, Nozipho Mgobhozi who lives at Ezibomvini at Ndwedwe (which is a rural area). This company was awarded a project in 2017 to do upgrades of the MR712 which included layer works, earthworks and drains. The main contractor was Fountain Civil Engineering. Out of all those employed for this project, 50% were women and 100% of them was youth. “I was also able to donate uniforms to poor learners at the Intabamhlophe School. My aim in the construction industry is to change the lives of many young people, especially young women. I want to show everyone out there that construction is not only for men. As the owner of this company I would be happy if we could get more support as women in construction from Government and other big companies as we really struggle as women since we have got to face men everyday who still look down on us because they think construction is only for them. I would also be happy if many women can get into the construction industry as projects, like the one my company did, assisted with the opening of doors,” says Mgobhozi. 
