Women in Construction Awards will become an annual event, with the cidb proudly growing the categories and increasing our reach towards all areas of the industry. Thanks to the Steering Committee for working tirelessly and enthusiastically to develop the categories and criteria. Thanks, too, to our team of dedicated judges for being an instrumental part of this inaugural awards effort. Congratulations to all the finalists; we look forward to many deserving winners in 2020 and the years to come.

t is with great pleasure that the cidb presents the first annual Empowerment and Recognition

of Women in Construction Awards 2020. These Awards cement the cidb’s aim to fulfil and implement an integrated strategy for the reconstruction, growth and development of the construction industry. The cidb has identified women as a critical target for development and has chosen to celebrate and encourage this group through an industry awards process. Construction has traditionally been thought of as a male-dominated industry with very few female role models in the sector. Thanks to the cidb’s evolving concerted efforts to encourage women into the sector, through initiatives such as the gender agenda and transformation programmes, today we celebrate the
