AYANDA NKOMO – EMPOWER ELECTRICAL

E mpower Electrical was registered in 2003 and started operating upon registration. Its offices are located in Benoni and its core business is municipal and industrial installation, maintenance and repairs. Through its association with its three branches in South Africa, Empower Electrical is well positioned to reach various customers through word of mouth, excellent service delivery and references from previous customers. Ayanda Nkomo holds 70% young black ownership while Albert Nkomo is a 30% black owner.

It is also opening a new division called Empower Fuels, which has two women directors and will be led by young African women. It plans to continue investing in women as future leaders by partnering with the Water and Energy SETA and facilitating the opportunity of previously disadvantaged young women to get bursaries for studying in the sciences. Its director Ayanda Nkomo only completed her degree in electrical engineering in 2019. With more time on her hands, she will continue to lift the women empowerment torch high and bright. 

Empower Electrical has a history of empowering women through training as well as offering formal employment. It has previously partnered with the Electrical Contractors Association and enables a group of eight women to be trained to get their N-courses completed by exposure to practical work experience. empowerment through employment. The electrical industry is mainly a male dominated industry, but it is always prepared to employ young women and has a history of always putting women applicants first.
