THATO MOKHOTHU – RTT CONSTRUCTION

M okhothu has been in the construction industry for approximately eight years and throughout those eight years she has been continually working hard to uphold quality standard of work. She seeks to uplift other women in her field and women in general through creating employment opportunities and working closely with them. Mokhothu is a business figure and she has been nominated for awards that are not limited to construction only. She was recognised by the Free State Provincial government as one of the nominees for the Businesswoman of the Year in 2015, top 5 in the Women in Construction Award - Young Contractor in 2017, Youth Chamber-Life time Achiever of the year in 2017, Sowetan Top 100 Bosses in 2016, and Mentor of Allan Gray Mentorship programme in 2017/2018 and 2019. She also featured on the

SABC under Brand South Africa “Play your Part” as a brand ambassador, nominated for BWA Regional Business Woman of the year Award in 2018 and nominated by ABSA for Get It Women on the Move. She also holds a certificate in Women Enterprise Coaching Programme in 2014 and NHBRC Women Empowerment Programme 2014-2015, and enrolled for a Capacity Building Programme on Conflict Resolution, Negotiation and Mediation for South African Women with the University of Limpopo She doesn’t limit herself to construction, but ventures into all the opportunities that come before her. All of this serves as a motivation to other women that they should never limit themselves to one business opportunity but rather allow themselves to absorb all the knowledge given and end up implementing that knowledge to an opportunity at hand. 

DUDUZILE ZULU – QEDA CONTRACTING AND TRADING

WOMAN WITH DISABILITY CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR

E llah Zulu was born on 1959. She is a paraplegic after an attack by hooligans at the age of 17. Qeda Contracting and Trading was established in 2006 by black women who wanted to take advantage of the economic opportunities in KwaZulu-Natal. Ellah Zulu is the owner of the company. The intention has always been to participate in economic opportunities that are presented by the new dispensation. The

company is 100% disabled black owned and managed. The company’s core business is rendering services within the construction industry with a focus on services such as general building, civil construction, renovation, maintenance, supply and distribution to private and public industries in around KwaZulu-Natal. The company plans to empower the historically disadvantaged by employing and developing both adults and youth from rural and local communities. 
