Switches and sockets well received Legrand’sYsalis switches and sockets, launched in South Africa at the beginning of the year, have been well received by the local market and feedback reveals that style, convenience and energy saving are key features adding to the popularity of this range.

back box for easy wiring. For improved safety, a spacer separates high and data currents. Installation is also effortless. Data sockets are fitted with tool-less connectors, eliminating the need for punch down tools. The modular design allows any configura- tion ofYsalis to be adapted to suit present and future needs. With this system, it’s not neces- sary to damage the wall to increase, remove or change the number of lighting points or con- nections – the same box and support frames are used to accommodate all modifications. Various modules are available – from one to three modules, up to six modules – with double or triple pole switches. Legrand’s commitment to its local customer base encompasses the ongoing launch of prod- ucts to meet exact market requirements.Ysalis wiring devices suit standard market segments looking for sophisticated, yet affordable fittings, with safe and reliable control features.Ysalis is available throughout the country from Legrand and its extensive distributor network.

Ysalis – designed for new and existing in- stallations – provides easy control of lighting and fans and accommodates current and new RSA standards for local plugs. Ysalis is easily adapted to suit European two pin socket ap- pliances. 2400 mA intelligent USB technology provides fast charging of two devices, with balanced load sharing. Universal dimmers control incandescent and halogen loads, as well as LEDs and compact fluorescent lamps. The range is also fully compatible with Legrand trunking systems. White or champagne coloured cover plates, which are slim and curvy shaped, enrich the décor of homes and offices. Switches can be fitted with fluorescent indictors for improved comfort and safety in the dark. Electrical installers are impressed with the compact mechanisms, with more space in the

The modular design of Ysalis switches and sockets allows the user to change connection functions, as well as colour of the plate at any time.

Enhanced lighting system for underground parkades Magnet Energy, part of the Magnet Group of Companies, enhanced its MARS LED lighting sys- tems for the undercover parkades at Sammy Marks Square in Pretoria and Midrand’s Boulders Shopping Centre, both managed by Redefine Properties. “In line with Redefine’s high standards for safety and comfort, Magnet’s main objective was to design an energy efficient lighting system for the shopping mall parkades that also ensured opti- mum security,” said Dean Lotter, Gauteng divisional head, Magnet Energy. “The MARS pod LED lighting system, designed andmanufactured locally byMagnet, incorporates advanced L80 B10 LED technology, to offer light uniformity, energy savings, improved safety and minimal light depreciation. “Advancements of Magnet’s MARS lighting system for these recently completed installations include bi-level dimming technology, which allows the LED light pods to rest, but not switch off, at 25 lux, in zones that are not occupied. When these zones are occupied, the light pods illumi- nate to 50 lux at 100%. This feature ensures energy efficiency, yet optimises safety, because no areas of the parkades are totally dark at any time. To create light uniformity in these low roof installations, which would have been unachievable with standard technology, one pod light fitting has been place at 4 m intervals. Magnet’s MARS system is guaranteed against workmanship and installation for a period of seven years. Magnet Energy’s onsite lighting audits, engineering and lighting design, specifi- cation of technology, installation and commissioning services are designed to reduce wasted electricity and improve lighting quality. The company’s recently launched website (www.magnetenergy.co.za) highlights its energy sav- ings solutions services, which include lighting and solar systems, as well as wet services and heat pumps. Magnet Energy’s turnkey electrical solutions are enhanced by a 24 hour support facility throughout the country, to ensure efficient operation and extended service life of every system.
