Sprawled across 255 000 square meters, Dalma Mall in UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, is part of the strategic plan of the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision, which sets the framework of the Emirate’s long-term economic and social growth. It houses more than 450 international and local brands, a hypermarket, a hospital, 14 cinemas, and 6 300 parking spaces. The Developers Holding LLC – Dalma Mall's owner – decided in early 2018 to refurbish the fluo- rescent light fittings originally installed in the mall to LED lights in order to keep in line with Abu Dhabi’s 2030 vision, which is geared towards building a sustainable and vibrant economy. They wanted to be able to cut their energy expenditures as well as minimise the maintenance work that usually comes with fluorescent lights. Initially, they considered us- ing LED tube lights, but after several discussions and LED instrumental in Dalma Mall refurbishment

considerations, they decided to go for LEDmodules because of better colour consistency and longer life- time. Finally, after several discussions andmock-ups and owing it to good service, lead time, and brand reliability, the client chose to work withTridonic. TheTridonic LED technology solution Tridonic’s flexible and easy-to-install LED modules and LED drivers were used for cove lighting ap- plication in the entire mall. 21 000 linear LLE G4 LED modules, 1 680 m LLE FLEX strip lights, and 5 400 LC SNC constant voltage and LC EXC con- stant current LED drivers were installed. At least 40% energy savings as opposed to using fluores- cent fittings was achieved.
