Schuler expands spare parts warehouse

Unanticipated press downtime can get frustrating when you consider the cost implications of system inactivity. When a component on the press fails, it has to be replaced as soon as possible in order to resume production withminimal delay. For this reason, Schuler has expanded its spare parts warehouse at the company headquarters inGöppingen, togive clients the confidence of knowing more spare parts can be stored and made available without delays. “With the expansion, we can now stock replacement parts, critical machine components and entire assemblies for all of the machines from Schuler and our other brands, nomatterwhen themachine was built or whether it’s a hydraulic press, mechanical press or the accompanying automation,” says managing director Dr Martin Habert, who oversees Service at Schuler. “And if there is ever a situa- tion where we don’t have the necessary component in stock, we’ll come up with a solution immediately.” Experts from Schuler are available to TheSR-ExpressrangefromPowermite, whichformspartofConductix-Wampfler’s global SR series of spring cable reels, is engineered to meet the energy and data supply requirements ofmovingmachinery including overhead bridge cranes, gan- tries, mobile tables, aerial ladders, lifts, elevators and elevated work platforms. The SR-Express (SR10-SR60) range combines the best qualities of Conductix- Wampfler’s cable reels. All components, from the cables and cable drum to the slip rings, springs and mounting flange, aremanufactured from the best andmost durable materials to ensure optimum operational efficiency over a long-life cycle. Smart engineering ensures that the SR-Express spring cable reels are ready for use and facilitate maintenance to mi- nimise costs and maximise uptime. As the product is suppliedwith the cable already installed and connected to the slip rings, it is a simple matter of plug-and-play. “Superior product quality is funda- mental to reliable performance which in

Powermite is proud to be the exclu- sive Southern African distributor for Conductix-Wampfler.Theglobalmanufac - turer is renowned for its superior quality and customised energy and data supply solutions for machines in the bulkmateri- als handling sector. Powermite delivers seamless energy and data supply turn drives machine and plant uptime and ultimately, productivity and profitability,” says Jacques van Rooyen, managing di- rector of Powermite. “Consequently, it is our responsibility to supply our custom- ers with world-class products that will perform efficiently over a long-life cycle, minimising OPEX to deliver lowest total cost of ownership.”

Featuring winding diameters from 170 mm to 400 mm, the cable drum is fitted with sealed ball bearings and is lubricated for life. The cable drum body and flanks are manufactured from robust zinc-plated steel. For operator safety, the flank edge has been designed to optimise cable arrangement during winding. The halogen-free PUR (polyurethane) cables, specifically designed for reeling applica - tions, provide excellent wear resistance and high flexibility. The USR heat-resistant slip rings feature a new design to facilitate and reduce maintenance. For optimal access to connection, the slip rings are located in an ABS-PC techno-polymere impact- resistant housing outside the cable drum. Protected fromdust andmoisture ingress, the housing features captive screws and a breather to prevent condensation. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, the rugged and versatile
