Fischer FLS channel system takes off

Distributed by Countapulse Controls and engineered with a high tolerance for different materials, the Leuze 10 Series optical sensors are able to detect objects and measure distances with an incredible accuracy of ±30 mm. “The high-performance sensors have an operating range of up to eight metres, where sensors further extend to the angle of incidence, colour, surface structure and to brightness of reflective material,” says Gerry Bryant, managing director of Countapulse. According to Bryant, this enables the sensor to detect different materials, such as wood or matt as well as glossy metal, and this is possible even under varying environmental conditions. The LED display has been designed to facilitate step-by-step commissioning and Engineers responsible for mechanical engineering or ‘wet’ services, from sus- pending cable trays to HVAC, plumbing, and sprinkler-system piping, now have a lightweight, flexible solution available in the form of the Fischer FLS channel system. Distributed locally by leading sup- plier Upat, the mounting channel used as a variable base element is great for light applications or installations, whichmeans that the total load placed on a building is reduced, says Charl Weber, national product specialist, Upat. This is particularly beneficial for refur- bishment projects such as converting ex- isting building stock in the Johannesburg city centre into residential units, he adds. “Being older, such buildings can only tolerate a certain load, which means that architects and engineers have topay care-

ful attention to what is added.” Available in three different sizes, 17 mm, 30 mm and 37 mm, the system features 3.0 m-long lengths as opposed to the traditional 5.0 m. In addition to the lowweight, this makes it easily transport- able to site. Other features include the alternat- ing long slots in the mounting channel, in addition to the form-fitting connector elements. This allows for optimised fixing to the substrate. The mounting channel also has a serration with stamped teeth to facilitate installation of the connector elements, plus edge seams for a perfect fit. Cutting and positioning are simplified further by the scalemarkedon themount- ing channels. The system forms part of the Fischer SaMontec installation system, which is being specified increasingly by wet works diagnosis at the press of a button, while the visible status indicators on the device makes for ease of use. However, its small size does not impact on the overall performance of the Leuze 10 Series,” he adds. The Leuze 10 Series is also suitable for sensing applications where deep black materials are found or where objects are not ideally aligned or where they are moving rapidly. www.countapulse.co.za

Sensors get it right with high tolerance engineering

Engineered with a high tolerance to different materials, the Leuze 10 Series optical sensors are able to detect objects and measure distances with an incredible accuracy of ± 0 mm.

Continuous slot PU panels improve drainage A complete range of newly designed continuous slot polyurethane (PU) panels with improved efficiency, drainage, and durability is now available from Aury Africa.

says Sydney Parkhouse, manag- ing director of Aury Africa. “While Aury Africa is target- ing the coal-mining industry in the Mpumalanga coalfields at present, where current custom- ers include Phola CHPP, Anglo American, Msobo Coal, and Canyon Coal, we are also look-

The 305×305 mm continuous slot PU panels are suitable for vibrating screens and for applications where wedge wire and poly- wedge panels were used historically for desliming, dewatering and rinse screens, as well as static decks. Various aperture sizes, from 0.50 to 0.63 mm, 0.80 mm, 1.0 mm, 2.0 mm, and 3.0 mm, are available for specific requirements. “Our first priority is to get the panels introduced into the mining industry and then togauge theoverall interest anddemand, sowe can tweak our manufacturing capability and stockholding accordingly,”
