Epiroc tophammer drill rigs upgraded

“On top of all these new features, we also have numerous new options available for this update, such as a new pressure-washer, extra lighting and Measure While Drilling live – making it possible to log drilling pa rameters during drilling. It is no understate ment to say that these drill rigs are better equipped than ever,” adds Gyllander. The models are fitted with a new 12% larger pulley wheel, which reduces wear on the feed cable due to reduced cable bend, leading to longer life and reduced costs. Altogether, this means less downtime for maintenance and higher productivity when compared to previ ous models. Uptime is also improved thanks to better placement of feed sensors, now located in a more pro tected area with less risk of damage. www.epiroc.com

viding a range of automated and sustainable solutions. Both models feature ingenious self-diagnostic capabilities. This helps to track down issues quickly and effectively. As a result, downtime is kept to a minimum. Another smart solution is the automated adding of rods as the rig drills down. Once the hole is complete, rods are extracted with significantly reduced input from the operator. A new 15-inch touch screen with an intuitive user interface (GUI) is now fitted. This provides quick and easy adjustment of drilling parameters. Both cameras, rear and support leg, are now integrated into the display, removing the need for an additional screen.

The upgrade Epiroc tophammer surface drill rigs, SmartROC T35 and T40, strengthen the company’s offering within construction and quarrying. The update includes a num ber of new features and options, making these tophammer models better equipped than ever. With Smart technology and enhanced automation, the models deliver more sus tainable and user-friendly solutions. The new SmartROC T35 and T40 are equipped with an enhanced engine RPM control, a new level of intelligence that makes the updated models even more fuel efficient — by up to 5%, which leads to lower costs and a reduced environmental impact. “This product update will provide cus tomers withmany valuable features and op tions, enabling more uptime and therefore higher productivity. With the operator in focus, we have made sure that these models offer valuable new technology that is easy to use,” says Ulf Gyllander, Global product manager at Epiroc. The new SmartROC T35 and T40models also offer many other smart features, pro Bosch Rexroth South Africa Group com pany, Hytec Fluid Technology (HFT) is the official distributor of the Hy-Pro vacuum dehydration units, manufactured in the USA by Hy-Pro Filtration. These units continu ously and efficiently remove contaminants – including the ‘invisible enemy’, water – from hydraulic oil. This reduces the need for costly maintenance of filter systems and machinery, extending the life of the hydraulic oil and machinery. As the local value-added distributor of Hy-Pro equip ment, HFT is authorised and technically skilled in the installation and service of this range of vacuum dehydrators. The Hy-Pro unit is safe and easy to op erate. It is easily installed and can usually be configured and set-up in under an hour. “This technology is so versatile that it can be deployed in any industry sector. HFT has successfully installed static assemblies in the power generation, petrochemical, oil and gas as well as pulp and paper industries, and receives positive feedback on a regu lar basis,” says Cameron Milner from the Technical Division of HFT. The Hy-Pro dehydrator removes free, emulsified and dissolved water, as well as gases, from hydraulic oil. It achieves this by heating the oil and passing it though a vacuum chamber, where the dissolved gases and water are boiled off. The oil is then

customers for 12 years. During installation, HFT ensures the correct installation/fit ment of the discharge line, suction line, and the water drain line. In addition, it carries out operator training, as well as servicing and maintenance of the systems as per customer service level agreements. “We also have our own rental fleet of machines, available for short- or long-term hire,” ex plains Milner. passed through a particulate filter, which removes all particulate matter. This extends component and bearing life, as well as the use life of the oil. The dehydrator system includes a pre programmed, relay-enabled control panel. This provides the unit operator with full access to the necessary functionality of the machine, inclusive of the monitoring telemetry for relative humidity (RH), ISO cleanliness, temperature and pressure. “Due to the unique process flow of the system, the dual condensate tank setup allows this assembly to sustain its own vacuum and facilitates a controlled envi ronment and continuous operation,” says Milner. Certain parameter configurations must be programmed before deployment, but once complete, the system continues to operate automatically – and it shuts down as a failsafe in the event of a fault. “As for maintenance, the units will only require replacements of the breather ele ments, depending on the operating envi ronment, as well as post elements in the oil conditioning circuit. When replacements are needed, this is indicated by onboard monitoring technology and the unit op erator can also access these replacement procedures via the telemetry,” adds Milner.
