Hamon deal beefs up John Thompson’s offering

L ocal supplier of electromechanical equipment, ACTOM, has signed a technology and local representation agreement with Hamon, the international manufacturer and supplier of environmental and power generation systems, to extend John Thompson’s offerings in these fields in the local market. The additional equipment and tech- nologies comprise electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) and flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) systems in the environmental field, plus heat-recovery steam generators (HRSG) for application in the power generation field. The agreement gives John Thompson ex- clusive rights in the Southern African region to sell and support Hamon’s ESP systems, while its representation rights for the other two Hamon systems are non-exclusive. The Hamon systems and services are added to the portfolioof JohnThompson’sUtilityBoilers& Environmental Solutions business unit, which serves these markets. “The agreement greatly strengthens John Thompson’s capability to cater to the Southern African market’s requirements in thesefields, particularly topower utilities, the iron and steel manufacturing sector, mineral

processing and petrochemical industries in the region,” says Shardanand Seeth, the divi- sion’s business development executive. “It also provides for local manufacture of substantial portions of the equipment con-

cerned.With respect toESPs, thehousings for the internal components of the ESPs, as well as the external support structures, ducting and other components will be manufactured by John Thompson,” Seeth concludes. q
