Condition monitoring specialist WearCheck has run popular skills training courses for its customers for over 20 years. Its training material assists staff in various positions within the maintenance teams to ensure that the monitoring and upkeep of components is conducted as efficiently as possible. W earCheck employs reliabil- ity solutions services such as used oil analysis, thermal imaging, vibration monitor- ing, balancing, laser alignment and others, to monitor and maintain machinery at its optimum yield. Customers with well-trained maintenance staff can supply better samples anddatatoWearCheck,boostingtheintegrity of the test results and thus gaining optimum benefit from their condition-monitoring programme. Over the40years inbusiness,WearCheck has compiled a database of sample diagnoses andwear trends, adding 600000 newsample results annually to the data. Much of the training course material draws on this data- base, with the addedbenefit thatWearCheck processes samples from a range of OEMs.

Oil Analysis One (two full days) and Oil Analysis Two (one full day) are the company’s core offering and all courses include course material, refreshments, giveaways and cer- tificates. Both of these courses can be pre- sented at the customer’s venue, and courses can also be customised to specific customer requirements. WearCheck also offers two other on-site courses: • WearCheck Practical (in English or Zulu), (half day). • WearCheck Customised – oil analysis for workshop technicians. Mobius training for reliability solutions

Refinery to undergo planned maintenance Engen Refinery, South Africa’s second largest oil refinery, is ongoing planned maintenance. This scheduled activity forms part of the refinery’s ongoing maintenance programme. It started on 5 February and will run for 45 days until 30 March 2018. Jehan Zaib, general manager of the Engen Refinery, explains that routine planned maintenance is essential for the safe and reliable operation of the facility. “The planned outage will primarily focus onessentialplantmaintenanceandinspec- tion activities aswell as process regenera- tion activities,” says Zaib.
