BMG appointed as distributors for Dual Valves products

Dual Products International – localmanufacturers of slurryvalves for over 30years –has becomeoneof theworld’s leading produc- ers of abrasion-resistant valves. “BMG’s strategy to expand its fluid technology services to meet growing market demand, incorporates the introduction of new products, with the latest developments in design technolo- gies, materials and coatings,” explains David Dyce, business unit manager, Fluid Technology, BMG. “The addition of Dual Valves products to BMG’s portfolio, enhances the company’s solution

engineeredproduct, and it is essential that themanufacturingprocess ensures the final product has the appropriate load-bearing capacity,” Quinlan says. “This ensures optimum safety over the long term and must form part of the decision making process. Buying cheap will not only compromise safety, but could result in injury to personnel working in areas where floor grating is used.” AndrewMentis has been producingRectagridRS40 (40/40) floor grating for more than 40 years, and uses a unique compressive pres- sure locking system, whereby the bearer bars and transversals form an exact pitch of 40×40 mm, with the bearer bars being perfectly upright and without any sideways lean. The locking method at the intersections utilises the full depth of the bearer bar ensuring abso- lute structural integrity and load-bearing capacity. Quinlan explains that the manufacturing process guarantees close tolerances are maintained with the round transversal bar fit- ting tightly through the pierced bearer bar to achieve the superior structural integrityof theproduct. “This iswhat customers have come toaccept as thebenchmarkwhen it comes toqualityand load-bearing capacity with floor grating, and with our process there are no cracks or crevices at intersections thus eliminating the possibility of corro- sion, which could weaken the floor grating,” he says. Andrew Mentis has also extended its range of floor grating to includeproductswithpitches of 45×40mmRS40 (45/40), 45×50mm RS40 (45/50) and still makes an 80×40 mm pitch which is known as RS80 (80/40). Stock panels are available in 2.4×1.2m for easy instal- lation or for the customer’s own tailoring. www.mentis.co.za TheDual Valvesmanufacturing facility inGauteng is equipped with the latest equipment, including an in-house pattern maker. An ongoing research and development programme means the rangeofslurryvalveswillbecontinuouslyimprovedandextended, according to stringent quality standards and market require- ments. This is an important advantage forBMGand its customers. TheDual Valves range includes dual valves, ball check valves, non-return valves, rotary disc valves, air release valves, double ball check valves and dual pinch valves. In addition an abrasion- resistant pivot gate valve was recently added to the range. This is a rotating gate valve, designed specifically for heavy abrasive and corrosive slurries. The patented design, which allows the valve to cycle in heavy slurries without sticking, is available in three types: wafer, flanged and high-pressure valves. www.bmgworld.net services and broadens BMG’s customer base, providing new market and application opportunities. “BMG’s expansion programme in the fluid technology sector also involves increasing stockholdings through more than 130 BMG branches and a wide distribution network in South Africa and across borders into Swaziland, Zambia, Botswana, DRC, Ghana, Mozambique, Namibia and Tanzania. “Market share for both companies will be significantly ex- panded through this distribution agreement, which improves accessibility to Dual Valves products throughout the African continent. “The BMG and Dual Valves teams, with their invaluable ex- perience, are able to specify the correct valves needed for every application and also assist customers in solving the problems of difficult installations and applications.”

Decision making critical when choosing floor grating Short-term financial gains should not outweigh long-term safety requirementswhen it comes to purchasing decision, especiallywhen looking at safety critical purchases such as floor grating.

National technical sales consultant at Andrew Mentis, Lance Quinlan, says it is imperative that engineers, architects, specifiers, quantity surveyors andbuyers understand the implications of buying inferior floor grating. “Themost important thing to remember is that floor grating is an
