Kwikspace, which specialises inmobile and site erected buildings, has completed its first turnkey converted container solution for a client in Temane, Mozambique. The relocatable camp caters to the domestic and business requirements of 50-plus personnel. It includes living quar- ters with en suite bathrooms, a kitchen and adjoining dining room, offices, a recreation room, a laundry and ablution facilities. Two refrigerated containers have also been pro- vided – one used as a freezer and the other as a chiller. The camp, which houses personnel involved in the contractor’s remote test site drilling for months at a time, is a com- plete living and working environment that can be easily moved to accommodate site relocation when necessary. Kwikspace supplied a turnkey solution which included generators for the power supply and the ‘plug-n-play’ water and sanitation plants. The maritime containers Kwikspace supplies relocatable camp were treated for corrosion and insulated, refurbished for living quarters and dining space, and fitted with electrical points and air-conditioners, while the en suite bathrooms comprise conventional toilets and showers. Kwikspace also supplied all required furniture such as beds, lockers and lamps for the living quarters; desks and chairs for the offices; and leisure activity paraphernalia for the recreation room. The tender was to supply converted maritime containers because of the dura- bility required for multiple-use modular buildings. “Sasol needed a solution that would serve as both home and office space with the associated comfort levels, but also one that was sufficiently sturdy to be relo- cated every few months,” explains Andy Harris, International Operations Executive, Kwikspace. “Our shipping containers, once converted, provide exactly the same con-

venience as our other modular buildings but are much sturdier, lending themselves to limited abuse resulting from frequent relocations over rough terrain.” The order was received in the latter part of April 2017 and the last consignment was collected from Kwikspace at the end of June – only six weeks later. The client assumed responsibility for site installation, providing all required equipment, machin- ery and labour, although Kwikspace operations from Tete was on site to train client personnel and oversee water and electrical connections to the units. “One of our locally trained supervisors from Kwikspace Tete was on site for the three month-long site installation period,” Harris explains. “Even though our build- ings were delivered already assembled, he performed a skills-transfer role, ensuring that site staff were trained and competent in levelling and siting, water and sewage connections and associated plumbing arrangements and electrical connecting.” Kwikspace, website: www.kwikspace.co.za November 2017 for importation of HDPE injection moulded fittings from German manufacturer, Bänninger. A key challenge was the stringent lead time for the supply of the order, which was urgently needed for a processing plant expansion project at the Burkina Faso gold mine. “A key challenge was that the order was placed with Plasti-Tech just before the year- end shutdown and the order lead time was a key concern. However, Plasti-Tech man- aged to supply the order on time as per the quoted lead time,” says Enslin. Rendifield took delivery of its order in late February this year. HDPE injection moulded fittings supplied to Rendifield, a South African manufacturer and supplier of piping systems, for export to a gold mine in Burkina Faso. Plasti-Tech is the sole distributor of the Bänninger range of pipes and fittings suitable for all areas of industrial application locally.
