Sandvik equipment selected for Lubambe

The modular plant has a capacity of 70 t/h and has been designed to accommo- date the expansion of the plant in phase two which will double the scale of the operation to process 140 t/h, equivalent to 800 000 wet tonnes per annum. During phase one, the pilot plant will provide up to 30 000 tonnes of wet con- centrate to a number of Centrex Metals customers. To alleviate challenges presented by the remote location and its restricted access to water supplies, CDE is also supplying its innovative AquaCycle technology, a high- efficiency water management system which recovers up to 90 % of the process water for immediate recirculation in the system. CDE, website: cdeglobal.com Sudesh Deonarain, General Manager Engineering at Redpath, says Sandvik’s hands-on account management support, coupled with superior aftermarket support, were the deciding factors when selecting Sandvik as its equipment and solutions partner. “We are more than happy with the service and support received from Sandvik and look forward to a successful partnership.” Mutale Chilufya, Sandvik Mining Zambia, e-mail: mutale. chilufya@sandvik.com Services Knowledge Box™ on-board hard- ware and automation readiness. Other available options include an Integrated Weighing System and the AutoMine® Loading Onboard Package. The Sandvik TH545i is a high perfor- mance 45-tonne articulated underground dump truck, with high engine power and high payload related to own weight. According to Sandvik, this robust and intelligent truck delivers safety, productivity and profit- ability benefits. Safety, health and comfort are enhanced with an enclosed, vibration-isolated cabin. An optional EU Stage IV/EPA Tier 4f low emission engine further helps to reduce fuel consumption and emissions without sacrificing productivity. The TH545i features a wide range of integrated technology, such as Sandvik Intelligent Control System, My Sandvik Digital Services and automation compat- ibility as standard, supplemented with an Onboard Weighing System option for tracking the payload. With the addition of the AutoMine® Trucking Onboard option, Sandvik TH545i trucks enable autonomous haulage for both transfer level and decline ramp applications.

Earlier this year Redpath Mining secured an order with Lubambe copper mine in Zambia to complete approximately 10 km of under- ground development per year over the next five years. In securing this order, Redpath Mining has partnered with Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology. Sandvik will supply Redpath with four DD321 development drill rigs, three LH517i loaders and three TH545i trucks. “Given the focus within industry moving forward on safety and digitalisation, Sandvik’s iSeries of intelligent equipment was amongst the chosen equipment,” says Praveen Pinisetti, Key Customer & Applications Manager, Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology Central Africa. “This, together with the dou- ble boom (two booms) drilling capabilities of the Sandvik DD321, creates a winning formula for Lubambe.” Sandvik will provide on-site parts con- signment stock and technical support
