Innovative reagents maximise metal recovery

The company also has a state-of-the-art smoothing agent ALC7G, which is used in electrowinning. It helps produce an even textured cathode at relatively high current densities. As a water soluble agent, it has a shorter hydration time and easier prepa- ration than traditional smoothing agents. The high solubility also reduces line block- age and pump maintenance. ALC7G has no negative effect on the organise phase of the SX process, can be used over a range of temperatures and will not gelatinise. This eliminates accumula- tion of residue on the cathodes. It has a great tolerance to high current densities and can often result in dosages up to 50 % “Our expansion into the platform and telehandler business was primarily to enhance our offering to our many blue- chip customers, who over the years have tended to prefer working with one reli- able partner for all their lifting and access requirements,” says Robson. “The synergy between these different types of equip- ment means that we can further assist customers in promoting productivity and safety on site.” Johnson Crane Hire’s national footprint of 13 branches is therefore now equipped with its own access platforms and tele- handlers. The new fleet includes platforms with a working height from 12 to 28 m and telehandlers with capacities from 2 ton to 9 ton. Johnson Crane Hire, website: www.jch.co.za

maximum metal recovery, optimisation and cost saving are the end goal. Biodegradable and non-hazardous products are the future and Axis House has a number of solutions that can be offered to the industry. These include the Rinkalore range of biodegradable products. Rinkalore 10 is a clear example of an oleochemical industri- ally derived from plant fats and oils. It has been purposefully designed to comple- ment copper and/or cobalt oxide flotation circuits. Being a base metal oxide collector, it targets slower floating copper species and is particularly effective on hard-to-float cobalt ores. This is brought about by the specifically designed combination of lon- ger chain-length inputs.

Axis House, an industry leader in reagent technology solutions, prides itself on its technology and innovation. The company says that strategic partnerships with joint performance metrics, as well as flexibility and being customer specific, ensure that ALC7G, which is used in electrowinning, helps produce an even textured cathode at relatively high current densities.

Extending its total lifting solution for cus- tomers, Johnson Crane Hire now offers an extensive fleet of access platforms and telescopic handlers. According to Steve

Robson of Johnson Crane Hire, the new units were put in place last year after the company concluded its supply agreement with a leading international OEM.

Alternative power solutions from Cummins From mines to factories and even the small business and residential sector, Cummins has a full range of alternative power solu- tions on offer.

training is fully accredited, with certificates presented to all successful candidates. Cummins’ technology is particularly suited to dealing with load shedding due to features such as full load acceptance for critical equipment. In addition, its energy- efficient engines not only comply with international emission standards but also have a high fuel tolerance level, which makes them well suited to arduous African operating conditions. In terms of automatic start-up, Cummins gensets are claimed to have one of the best response times on the market at present. Another significant benefit for Cummins clients is that the company can supplement its gensets with maintenance contracts of varying duration, depending on the appli- cation and specific requirements. Cummins can even become involved with the design phase of alternative power solutions, all the way through to installation and commissioning. Fully-trained techni- cians are located throughout South Africa, in addition to an extensive dealer network that can also accommodate remote locations. Cummins Africa, website: africa.cummins.com

“Our key differentiator is that we are able to supply a small 17 kVA genset for residential or commercial use all the way to a 3 750 kVA unit for mining, data cen- tre, and hospital applications, for example,” says Cummins South Africa’s Sales Lead for Power Generation, Robin Kuriakose. In addition, Cummins can also supply one-stop solutions for multiple back-up power requirements for large-scale clients such as mining operations or factories. A key differentiator is that not only does it supply the gensets themselves, but all ancil- lary components, including air and oil filters and even coolant. “This is integral to our value proposition, as it not only allows us to offer the highest- quality products, but also to ensure that they are serviced and maintained prop- erly,” Kuriakose notes. Cummins has a fully-fledged training facility where its own technicians and clients can receive custom- ised training on any engine platform. This
