According to van den Barg, the strategy for T3 Projects is to grow the business in a sustainable manner, “sticking to what we know best, which is constructing mining infrastructure and mineral pro cessing plants throughout Africa”. Given the strong demand for commodities, the company is experiencing an uptick in business, with the development of new age minerals such as lithium, tin, rare earths, copper, cobalt and heavy mineral sands offering new opportunities for the specialist construction contractor. “T3 Projects will remain a lean and nimble com pany eager to take advantage of African related mining opportunities. We look forward to growing T3 Projects into becoming a project house of choice for mining projects spanning junior, mid-tier and mining project houses,” concludes van den Barg. 

This proj ect demonstrated our capabilities of “thinking outside the box” and our ability to create tailor made customer-focused superior solutions in remote locations.” Since then T3 Projects has executed several large electrical, control and instrumentation (E,C&I) projects, including at Kamoa-Kakula Copper Mine in the DRC; a brownfields relocation of an acid tank farm at Kamoto Copper Company (KCC) (a copper and cobalt mine in the Lualaba Province of the DRC); a mill upgrade project in Burkina Faso; a mine refrig eration project as well a number of smaller shutdown and maintenance projects at the company’s areas of operation. “We have maintained a permanent presence at Ivanhoe Mines’ Kamoa-Kakula Copper mining com plex in the DRC, having participated in Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the prestigious project where we pro vided E, C&I services and are currently tendering for additional work on the Phase 3 expansion, as well as on the smelter project. We have executed several brownfields projects at KCC, including the shutdown on the acid plant, and are maintaining a presence on site for future work,” says van den Barg. Further to this, the company was also contracted to undertake structural steel and platework fabrica tion, and supplied piping for the Lake Kivu methane gas project located in western Rwanda. The lake contains high concentrations of naturally occurring methane gas (CH 4 ) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). The Lake Kivu project involves the construction of an off shore gas extraction facility along with onshore gas processing and compression plants. T3 Projects targets growth The company, which already has a well-established presence in the DRC, Ghana and Burkina Faso, is eyeing geographic expansion into key mining destinations. “We are looking at expanding our geographical footprint and are exploring opportunities in new
