Lightweight trommel for smaller producers

BLT’s range of MDS trommel screens and apron feeders includes the recently launched M412 trommel, which is said to offer cost effective solutions for smaller production requirements in mineral processing and recycling applications. “This lightweight machine, with a compact design, is able to effi- ciently handle various materials – from compost recycling to blasted rock,”says Ken Mouritzen, MD of BLT (Africa and Indian Ocean Islands). “M412 trommels have interchangeable screens for different size rocks – between 10 mm and 500 mm – and are capable of producing four products concurrently, at an output rate of 150 tons per hour. “These machines are available as static units or on tracks, depend- ing on customer preference. Other features include the hydraulic push feeder mechanism, an electric/hydraulic power system and easy to operate control panel. These trommels can be used with conveyors and are also fitted with a washing system as an option.” The M412 trommel, which weighs 18 tons and has a 1,25 m drum diameter and 4,5 m drum length, can be economically transported in a container. Other machines in the MDS trommel range include robust mobile and semi-mobile units, as well as heavy duty static machines for maxi- mum output. Also in the range are static and tracked trommels for light and heavy duty recycling. Drainage pump range enhanced XylemWater Solutions South Africa introduced enhancements to its Flygt 2000 drainage pump range at this year’s Electra Mining Africa expo. Xylem’s new 25 kW Flygt 2190 mid-sized submersible dewatering pump is built to handle tough, abrasives-laden liquids. The pump is availablewith two impeller options: the signature closed impeller with ‘Dura-Spin’ safeguards against wear by sweeping abrasive particles away from the impeller neck while the semi-open impeller increases uptime by preventing fibrous solids fromobstructing the pump. Xylem’s Flygt 2400 stainless steel pump, the first stainless steel- only pump in the Flygt 2400 series, provides customers in the mining sector with a durable, super-high head pump suitable for transporting chemically-aggressive mine water. Kristoffer Kratz, Product and Application Manager of Xylem’s Dewatering business, said, “Xylem’s Flygt 2000 range offers cus- tomers a comprehensive suite of exceptionally robust pumps built for long life. These new and enhanced wear-resistant pumps are engineered to handle the most challenging liquids as well as being suitable for dry running and snoring operation.” Xylem, tel (+27 11) 966-9300
