BLT appointed MDS distributor Big Lift Trucks (BLT) has been appointed distributor in Africa for MDS International, global specialist in trommel screens and apron feeders. “BLT’s carefully structured expansion programme encom- passes a strategy to extend the company’s range of materials handling equipment to meet exact market demand in Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands,”says Ken Mouritzen, MD Big Lift Trucks. “MDS trommels and apron feeders, which are also available from BLT on a fully serviced rental basis, are designed especially for mineral processing and recycling applications. “These flexible systems are used to remove the small frac- tion – fines – from a waste stream, to make the remaining mate- rial easier to handle for the operators of processing equipment. Trommels are used in the classification of solid waste, treatment of waste water and recovery of valuable minerals from rawmate- rials. They are also used in the screening process of composts and in food industries, trommel screens sort dry foods of different sizes and shapes.” MDS trommels can be designed and manufactured to exact specifications and vary in terms of dimensions of the trommel width, diameter and aperture of holes. trommel drum and varies depending on the operation, waste stream, volume of material and product specifications. Heavy-duty MDS trommels, which are available as mobile and stationary units, have output capacities between 250 and 1 000 t/hour and can handle rock size up to 1,5 m.
