DESIGN OF SMALL STYLISH

EAST MEETS WEST WITH NEW HIGH-BAY SOLUTION

W e at Illumina Lighting Solutions were requested to offer a cost effective high-bay solution for light industrial purposes that can compete with European standards and quality of output. There is clearly a need for better efficacy ratings and longer standard warranty periods at cost effective price points, which is also aesthetically pleasing and cutting edge. We combined different OEM products to produce WerkLight, a brand fully owned by Illumina Lighting Solutions, in order to deliver an all-round solution geared to meet the above criteria. The lens technol- ogy is patented and produced in China together with the anodised, aluminium housing body. WerkLight Efficacy ratings are 30% higher than standard Chinese offerings. We deliver 130 to 140 lumens per watt of electricity used. WerkLight is delivered with Mean Well drivers but customers can opt to have Tridonic drivers installed. Our high bay and floodlight options are IP66 rated and can be used inside or mounted exter- nally by suspension chain or surface mounted brackets that are adjustable for angle – both are supplied. Our lens technology allows for a wide variety of symmetric or asymmetric beam angles making WerkLight a most versatile so- lution, able to fit into any type of layout such as task lighting in a manufacturing concern, spread or flood lighting for open areas or specific beam angles for racking layouts. In the case of our horizontal high bay offering, increased light output is achieved by adding on to the length of the unit e.g. the entry level 50 W version comes at a length of 285 mm; the range topping 400 W output is 1095 mm long. This means that it is not only the output that increases but also the space that will be lit, meaning less units required to light up the space. Our 400 W horizontal high bay fitting produces in excess of 52 000 lumens at 4000 K. To summarise the WerkLight industrial offering, there is a core range for the high bay and floodlight options: • Rectangle: The black rectangle series is our entry-level offering and is a recognisable industry design with the difference of our partnership with Philips LED and Mean Well driver technology as standard. • UFO: Our UFO high bay option is a sleek and slim design that incorporates our lens technology to offer a variety of beam angles. • E Series 1: Our top of the range E-Series Floodlight is unique in design. Series one has a rigid backbone upon which arms are mounted for each LED light unit. With series one, each LED unit is

adjustable to illuminate either up or down, while the arm enables adjustment backwards and forwards thus, giving the client carte blanche on the direction of light. These lights are perfect for park- ing lots, open areas, sports field or stadium lighting. Series one has power ratings from 720 W to 1500 W of LED power. • E Series 2: A single LED unit stacked vertically on top of each other as power ratings increase – entry level power delivery is a slim-line, sin- gle LED unit delivering 120 W of lighting up to a maximum of 720 W. • E Series 3: A double LED unit stacked vertically as power ratings increase. Entry level power rating is 480W up to a maximum of 1500 W. WerkLight also offers a commercial range of batten lights, downlights and track lights. With regards to our downlights and track lights, we of- fer unique anti-glare lenses and diffusers making it more comfortable on the eye when clients invariably look into the light. Our double spot track mounted units can house different size and output lights e.g. 20 W 30 degree beam angle on the left and 40 W 60 degree beam angle on the right and are manufactured for either 2, 3 or 4 wire systems.

LUMINAIRES MADE EASY

W ith a height of only 11 or 16 mm, the new drivers in the premium series (PRE) from Tridonic give luminaire

designers enormous freedom to create versatile luminaire designs. In addition to the usual wide dimming range and one4all interface, there are versions with an NFC interface. The 16 mm versions also have an integrated DALI power supply (po4a). The new PRE drivers pack state-of-the-art technology and all the functions of the premium portfolio into the smallest of spaces. The reduced low-profile housings have the same length and width as before (360 mm x 30 mm), but are now only 11 or 16 mm high instead of 21 mm. They offer virtually flicker-free dimming (<5 %) of the connected luminaires from 100 to 1 percent and are equipped with smart interfaces, such as NFC (Near Field Communication) and integrated po4a DALI power supply. The combination of NFC and the companionSUITE software package enables the drivers to be quickly and wirelessly programmed during the production process at luminaire manufacturers. Complete packaging units of up to 10 items can be wirelessly configured in a single pass via an antenna. The po4a interface (extended one4all Interface) supplies sensors with power and thus simplifies implementation of sensor-controlled lighting solutions. Additional DALI lines for the sensor are no longer necessary. Typical applications for the slim drivers in low-profile housings are linear and area lighting systems in the office environment. They are also suitable for safety lighting in accordance with EN 50172.
