New innovations for the electrical contractor from HellermannTyton
HellermannTyton have recently introduced two new products from the European stable which were first brought into the country towards the end of last year, the EVOcut and the Cable Scout Cam. If you are going to be cutting cable ties but do not want to damage the cable which the ties are securing, then the EVOcut is the ideal product for you. “By nature, cable ties need to be tight, so almost anything you use to cut cable tie can cut or damage the cable,” explains Ryan Burger, HellermannTyton’s Divisional Product Manager for Tools and Instruments. The EVOcut is a cutting tool for plastic ties, which ensures the cut of the strap while preserving wires and harnesses from being damaged in the process. The EVOcut works for both flexible and rigid bundles, and its use is recommended in many harness applications in which the safety and integrity of the wires is important. The cutting tool is made of a lightweight plastic housing and an ergonomic, non-slip handle for a comfortable and secure grip. “For those who are uninstalling, modifying, repairing or maintaining cables, and who want to do it as quickly and as accurately as possible without damaging any cables, this product is perfect for fast, single- handed, comfortable and repeatable work,” says Burger. The tool includes three different nosepieces, which are easy to change depending on cable tie width and thickness. There is no need to be in the dark when checking installations – with the Cable Scout Cam miniature HD inspection camera and a WiFi enabled device you can check behind walls, air vents or in ceilings. The Cable Scout Cam professional miniature HD inspection camera offers easy viewing of electrical installations in inaccessible areas such as suspend- ed ceilings, conduits or stud walls. Cable Scout Cam can be used with Android, iOS (via a free app), Windows and MAC operating systems to deliver real time video and still images in HD quality via WiFi to connected mobile devices or computers. “Everybody carries a screen with them in their pockets nowadays,” says Burger, “and this product, which is relatively inexpensive and can be used for many industries, takes the hassle out of many on-site inspections by sending the visuals straight to your tablet or your phone.” A 10m semi- rigid camera cable connected to the rechargeable 2.4 GHz WiFi transmitter ensures that the Cable Scout Cam can be used in remote areas without Bluetooth or data access. To ensure perfect viewing in the dark, the Cable Scout Cam miniature HD camera includes eight dimmable integrated LED lamps. The transmitted image can be rotated or zoomed in the app and also saved and sent for reporting and documentation. Included in the set are four handy accessories that can be attached to the camera head according to requirements. A watertight IP68 lens cover protects the camera in damp or humid cavities. The mirror enables viewing around 90° corners. The magnet and hook help salvage lost tools or parts. Cable Scout Cam can also be used in combination with HellermannTyton Cable Scout+ cable rods and accessories. While the product is intended for electrical contractors, the applications for the Cable Scout Cam are numerous. HellermannTyton offers tools for the electrical, industrial, mining and automotive industry to name but a few, with 50 years of uncompromising quality in products and service. HellermannTyton’s mission is to provide innovative solutions, with customer satisfaction as its first priority. Everything in view with the Cable Scout Cam inspection camera
