WITH VIRTUAL REALITY, SIGNIFY LETS YOU EXPERIENCE LIGHTING BEFORE YOU BUY

H ow do you visualise the right light for your store or city before you buy? Signify is helping its customers do just this with apps that provide an experience, showcasing the pos- sibilities for lighting using virtual reality (VR). Now customers can step into a virtual world to visualise how lighting can transform their fashion store or city street. Professional fashion retail customers simply download the new Philips Fashion Lighting VR iOS or Android app to their phone and place their de- vice in a VR headset. Accurate 3D renderings en- able them to then immerse themselves in a virtual fashion store and see first-hand how lighting can make shop windows more dynamic to attract a shopper’s attention and draw footfall into the store. The app lets them visualise the power of lighting to make whites brighter, blacks crispier and colours more vibrant. And it illustrates the importance of lighting in virtual fitting rooms to positively influ- ence the buying decision. The reaction from retail customers is very posi- tive. "They say 'wow, this is fantastic, it’s amazing to see the store change when I alter the lighting – you really feel like you’re there.' It makes my job that bit easier as virtual reality is a hugely powerful addi- tion to our sales toolkit,” said Ronald Gelten, Retail Fashion Lighting Manager at Signify Virtual city experience Meanwhile, Signify’s new Philips Urban VR experi- ence takes city lighting managers and planners on a journey along a virtual street, allowing them to visualise different effects from Philips street light luminaires as they walk down the road. The interac- tive experience allows them to make more informed decisions when selecting the lighting that’s best for EUROLUX ACCREDITED LABORATORY T he GO-2000 goniophotometer (also known as a horizontal goniophotometer) is a su- permatic test system for luminous intensity distribution and total luminous flux measurement of various types of luminaries and lamps, includ- ing indoor lights, street lights and floodlights. The integrated sphere allows Eurolux to measure each lamp, LED, fluorescent, CFL and HID to determine its exact Kelvin rating colour temperature, chromaticity coordinates, rendering index, flux lumens, lumen ef- ficiency, lumen power and power factor. Eurolux is a SANAS accredited test laboratory which offers Photometric testing of Luminaires. The laboratory is accredited to SANS 17025 by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS) and is accredited for: • Total luminous flux and chromaticity coordi- nate on the spectrocolorimeter of lamps, lights source and luminaires, CIE84-1989, and; • Total luminous flux and chromaticity coordinate on the goniometer of lamps, lights source and luminaires, CIE121-1996.

their city or town. Signify has created a virtual city centre, park and residential area. “Lighting is a visual medium. This innovative app lets potential customers step into a virtual world where they can see how lighting and different de- signs - such as patterns cast by the different lumi- naires - will look to citizens. Designers, managers and smart city planners can see for themselves and feel assured about their choices,” said Chris Damkat, VR Specialist at Signify. “Today’s virtual re- ality technology is more affordable and accessible than ever before. It engages the senses, making it the perfect visualisation tool.”
