DAIMLER TRUCKS & BUSES SOUTH AFRICA proves the impossible is possible

T he DaimlerTrucks & Buses (DT&B), a division of Mercedes-Benz South Af- rica (MBSA), maintained the positive philosophy of ‘mind over matter’ and ‘yes we can’ throughout 2015, so that despite the negative climate in the transport indus- try, it has further cemented its place as the leading commercial vehicles mobility solu- tions provider in Southern Africa. This was demonstrated at the original man- ufacturer’s Power of Impossibilities exhibi- tion, which took place in November 2015, at the Vaal and as well as at the awe-inspiring FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

At the Power of Impossibilities event, DT&B clearly demonstrated how its various brands devised innovative solutions and interven- tions that justified the manufacturer widely being regarded as a benchmark in the com- mercial vehicle industry.
In addressing the guests at the event, van Zyl outlined the various aspects of the DT&B strategies in 2015 which contributed to their leadership in the industry, by say- ing, “Mercedes-Benz Trucks continued to offer innovative solutions such as Telligent Maintenance (flexible service intervals) and Active Brake Assist II. Customers also en- joyed reduced service costs, decreased fuel consumption but experienced increased Up- Time (the period during which a particular vehicle is operational).” The events which characterised 2015 start- ed when, in a further drive from DT&B to be customer-centric, the Freightliner team achieved first position in the Heavy Truck
