CM Labs to launch new AR simulator technology at bauma 2019 CM Labs Simulations, developer of Vortex training simulators, has announced that it will be releasing a host of new training technologies at bauma 2019. Each element is designed to work independently, or as

part of a total team learning solution. CM Labs will be launching its new Augmented Reality (AR) application, which makes it possible for instructors to bring a virtual mobile crane right into the classroom, where trainees can interact with it, conduct walkarounds, and learn the fundamentals of machine inspection. Once trainees are familiar with the equipment, they can get behind the con- trols of an equipment simulator and work through the built-in training curriculum, or focus on the development of specific operator skills. Two training simulators will be on display at CM Labs’ booth: the immersive Vortex Advantage and the desktop Vortex Edge Plus. Both simulators can run CM Labs’ full catalogue of lifting and earthmoving training packs, including mobile crane, flat-top tower crane, luffing tower crane, crawler crane,

Volvo looks to electric future at bauma 2019 bauma 2019 will be the first major industry event following the recent

At bauma 2019 in Munich, from 8 to 14 April, Hatz will focus on its customer, application and ser- vice-oriented strategy and present the world’s first electronically controlled fuel injection system and digital control unit for single-cylinder diesel engines in the industrial sector. In doing so, Hatz is said to be the first to bridge the gap between today’s mechanically controlled engines and the requirements of modern, digitalised companies. With its E1 technology, Hatz enables light equipment, mobile lighting towers or genera- tors, for example, to be propelled into the era of the Internet of Things (IoT). With the E1 technology, Hatz continues its tradi- tion of innovative developments, which the engine specialist has demonstrated since the start of the 20th century. This includes, for example, the flat seat injector (a significant development in the history of diesel engines), the first diesel engine made of light metal, the progress achieved towards the world’s most powerful single-cylinder diesel, 90% sound insulation and the first industrial diesel following the downsizing principle. “In all these developments, the quality and ease of handling of the engines are harmonised with the needs of the customer and the user. With our new E1 technology, Hatz offers the platform for the next logical step, for the first time integrating machines with small engines into the advancing world of digitisation,” says Bernhard Richter-Schützeneder, director sales and marketing at Hatz. b World’s first electronic control system for single-cylinder engines

announcement that Volvo CE is to go electric on its Volvo-branded compact excavators and compact wheel loaders in 2020. With this move, Volvo CE claims to become the first construction equipment manufacturer to commit to an electric future for its compact machine range. The first two hydraulic-electric machines will be unveiled at bauma, followed by a staged market- by-market introduction and ramp up in 2020. Excavators will be the stars of the show, continuing the thrust of Volvo CE’s worldwide ‘Excavators For Any Challenge’ campaign. New excavators that will be launched at the show include the 20 t EC200E, alongside the EC15-EC20E compact excavators. There will also be the game-changing launches of the EC300E hydraulic-hybrid excavator and an EC220E that

features Volvo Active Control automated boom and bucket movements for a more efficient digging process. In all, there will be 50 machines on Volvo’s two stands, grouped into the sub-themes of ‘load’, ‘dig’, ‘haul’, ‘pave’, ‘innovation’ and ‘service’. Of these, Volvo Services has a much higher emphasis than ever before at this year’s bauma, with every machine supported with a dedicated service offering, via touch screens and other displays. b
