Babcock has launched the new B877F backhoe loader in Southern Africa.

Exclusive SDLG distributor in Southern Africa Babcock has been the exclusive distributor of SDLG construction machinery in Southern Africa since early 2012 with dedicated product support units and aftersales teams operating throughout Babcock’s African footprint. SDLG is represented in over 20 Babcock service centres throughout the region offering aftersales service support and affordable spare parts. All SDLG purchases are covered by a warranty, giving customers the peace of mind that their operations will maximise yield and profits.

blades if required, as well as the dual hydraulic cylinders enabling the re-positioning of blades while carrying a load. “This results in a smoother, more efficient grade that can repair even the most damaged roads,” comments Sheppard. Superior results and greater grading precision are further ensured by the G9220’s piston pump hydraulic system that delivers the optimum oil flow to the hydraulic functions, regardless of engine speed. The grader also features an asymmetric drawbar ball stud that can be rotated 180° to keep the drawbar in horizontal level position, vital when performing fine grading. In general usage, no manual interference is required, which greatly increases the safety of the machine. There are various attachments available for the G9220 that include a rear ripper, mid-mounted scarifier, front dozer blade, and front scarifier. B877F Half a tonne lighter than its predecessor, the new 8.4-tonne B877F sideshift backhoe loader has the power and mobility to handle most jobs in this weight class and features a 1 m³ standard loader bucket and maximum lifting capacity of 3 224 kg. Improvements in its design include a new engine, increased cab space, better cooling capacity, and state-of-the-art loader linkage, all of which assist in optimum uptime and enhanced operator convenience.

Additionally, access to the engine is made easy through the large, rear-hinged engine hood, and all filters are grouped inside the engine bay for improved maintenance access. The high capacity radiator is also easily accessed via the large engine hood opening. The new and powerful 70 kW Yuchai engine supplies the hydraulic system with a constancy of flow ensuring that the operator has sufficient machine power to get the job done, while a 55 degree steering angle provides excellent manoeuvrability when working in confined areas. The B877F has also been fitted with a larger radiator with an ambient temperature of 50°C. The improved cooling capacity leads to better performance in hot climates. Sheppard adds that these upgrades come at very little additional cost. “The loader is available at a very competitive price and is the only machine in its price category that comes with air-conditioning as standard. Operator convenience has also been advanced with a spacious cab, greater visibility around the machine, and more space for turning between the loader and excavator controls. The ergonomic cab features a streamlined layout and design of the machine’s controls, a new handbrake design, and a new parking brake that is easier to operate and has better brake force. Additionally, the differential lock switch has been moved from the side panel to the floor, resulting in easier use for the operator. The B877F can be specified with either a multi-purpose or a general purpose loader bucket, together with an extendable or a standard arm. There are also a wide range of attachments to choose from, allowing customers to select the configuration that best suits their needs. 
