Lighting in Design Q4 2024

industrial past to life in a chic, approachable way. Functional flow Central to the design is Hav & Mar’s open kitchen, which invites guests to engage with the culinary process. Positioned in front of the kitchen, the main bar serves as a hub of activity, while a canopy like lighting fixture, reminiscent of a sea creature, floats overhead, bringing a human scale to the vast space below. This whimsical addition grounds the bar and makes it an intimate focal point in an expansive room. In the spirit of functional elegance, a private booth near the bar and kitchen was transformed into a prime dining space, converting a potentially overlooked corner into one of the most sought-after spots in the restaurant. The verticality of the design is heightened by sculptural lighting fixtures, which cast a warm, curated glow across the room, each fixture adding dimension to the varied textures of the restaurant. Lighting as a sculptural art form Atelier Zébulon Perron’s creative lighting is a standout feature, infusing each corner of Hav & Mar with a unique atmosphere. As Zébulon Perron notes, “You can create the most beautiful spaces imaginable, but lighting is what infuses life into them.” Custom-designed fixtures serve both as artwork and as lighting, creating glowing, sculptural forms that draw the eye. With its seamless blend of Samuelsson’s culinary vision and Perron’s design expertise, Hav & Mar is a testament to the power of multicultural convergence. From the earthy palette to the creatively lit spaces, Hav & Mar promises a dining experience that’s as much about the ambiance as it is about the flavours – a space where culture, community, and creativity unite.
