Bluetooth-enabled radar level transmitter Emerson has introduced the Rosemount™ 3408 Level Transmitter, a non-contact radar device designed to optimise ease-of-use at every touchpoint, leading to increased site and worker safety and enhanced plant performance. The Rosemount 3408 is a versatile level measurement solution, suitable for use in a wide range of industries and ap Compact construction, agricultural and for estry equipment specialist, Wacker Neuson South Africa, recently completed delivery of 50 RD7 pedestrian dual-vibration rollers to key customer, Hire All (Pty) Ltd. Head quartered in Lanseria, Gauteng, Hire All has been a leading supplier of plant and equipment hire for 40 years, with a current fleet comprising more than 200 product lines and over 6 000 machines. “Selecting Wacker Neuson as a preferred supplier aligns with Hire All’s well-estab lished reputation as a leading supplier of trusted equipment,” says Dennis Vietze, Managing Director of Wacker Neuson Sub-Saharan Africa. According to Wacker Neuson’s Area Sales Representative, Frans Bopape, the robust RD7 machine is packed with more functions than an average walk Hire All rolls out Wacker Neuson RD7 machines behind roller, delivering best-in-class per formance in the compaction of soil, gravel, concrete and asphalt in the construction of roads and foundations. Bopape explains that while most other rollers on the market can only be used on soil or asphalt, the ex tremely versatile Wacker Neuson machine incorporates a dual vibration system that enables customers to choose their ap plication. “Our operator-friendly roller is designed to handle both surfaces with ease,” he says, adding that for enhanced operator safety and comfort, all control elements are located directly on the guide handle, giving the operator complete control of the machine from his operating position. Equipment rental offers an economic so lution, and the unmatched versatility of the RD7s, coupled with durability and quick and

uncomplicated service and maintenance, makes these remarkable machines a perfect fit for the sector. “The versatility of the RD7 is one of the benefits that impressed us most and we are confident that the machine is going to be very popular with our customers,” says Hire All Marketing Manager, Deborah Rogers. Wacker Neuson delivered the first fifteen rollers to Hire All's headquarters just two days after receiving the order, with the remainder arriving just six weeks later. “We are extremely satisfied with the quick turnaround time,” adds Rogers. “Companies like Hire All enable us to further expand our African footprint by bringing the premium Wacker Neuson brand to more customers across South and Sub-Saharan Africa,” Dennis Vietze concludes. www.wackerneuson.co.za

plications, such as chemical storage, mixing tanks and open-air applications. Emerson’s Rosemount device provides a range of functions that reduce complexity throughout the sensor’s life cycle, including a highly intuitive interface, remote Bluetooth ® wireless capabilities, predictive alerts, in-situ verification, data historian and an upgradeable design. • The user interface provides clear pictorial instructions, al lowing operators to be easily guided through installation, commissioning, proof-testing, operation and maintenance. • The new device is based on frequency modulated continu ous wave (FMCW) technology, which enables extremely accurate and reliable measurement, even in challenging process environments. • It is also suitable for use in critical safety applications such as overfill prevention, as it is Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 2-certified. • Emerson’s proprietary Smart Meter Verification software provides an easy means of verifying the health of the device, without interrupting the process. The transmitter can be proof-tested remotely and in-situ, which makes the procedure quick and easy, saving time and increasing plant and worker safety. In the event of device failure, its exchangeable design en ables the simple replacement of a cassette within the transmit ter housing, rather than replacing the entire transmitter head. This saves time and materials, making the device extremely cost-effective. “The new generation of engineers expects modern automa tion technology to be easy to implement, operate and main tain,” says Thense Korsbo, director of product management for Emerson’s radar level measurement business. “The onus, therefore, is on us to provide solutions that simplify operator tasks as much as possible, especially in safety-critical applica tions such as overfill prevention, and this was Emerson’s focus when designing the Rosemount 3408. This optimised ease-of-use will help organisations to improve plant efficiency, reach their production targets and achieve the highest levels of safety.” www.emerson.com
